I move that the house condemn the government for its lack of action concerning the Northern Isles crisis, and demand the allocation of, not 6, but 7 budget units to both remedy the original problem and assist in funding for the poverty stricken government. |

I should like to point out that we proposed a budget giving them 6 budget units. It's not our fault that other people chose to vote against it.

Also, we gave the Northern Isles some money even before the storm hit. |

Glad you agree. What has been failed to be understood is that a voter may agree with giving the Northern Isles the money, but NOT with the rest of your budget decisions. You should have just said that 6 units would be given to the Northern Isles and left it with that. |

The question is as in the motion. As many who are of that opinion say aye, Aye! To the contrary no, No! Division! |

A sad day indeed for the residents. This is hardly going to look favourable at the by-election... |

So its a sad day because the House didn't say anything? How would being critical of the government help prevent a devolution attempt anyway? |

Well I'm sure they wouldn't complain about having an extra budget unit allocated to them... |

I know, but they're hardly going to look favourable on a party who doesn't support more aid, even if it may not follow it up... |

Then make a statement motion to that effect rather than one that starts "I move that the house condemn the government" |
