Oredian Miners Face Redundancy

Hundreds of miners and support staff face redundancy tonight after the industrial giant Oredian Minerals Co. announced that it was rapidly scaling back operations in Ostentia. There had recently been rumours that the company, which also has operations in West Mearor, Fondrop and Boondoxia, was in financial difficulties. No competitors have made bids for the mines set to close, and the Oredian regional government has ruled out nationalisation. Unions have called upon the government to intervene to prevent the industry from closing, although some commentators have expressed the opinion that the government should concentrate on retraining the workers for jobs in other industries.

While the regional government rules it out, let's hope the NATIONAL government can over-ride that decision ;)...

Clarification: What I mean is that the regional government is not going to nationalise it, not that they are going to try and block it. In the event of them trying to block it, they can still be overuled by the government.
