Election Speacial!

Coming up in this Election Speacial:

  • Interview with Prime Minister Pokemaniac John.
  • Interview with Opposition Leader Inevitable.
  • Interview with Speaker of the Commons Commoncold0

Interview With Prime Minister Pokemaniac John

Reporter: Based not only on declerations of support, but also on previous election results and events throughout your time in power etc., who do you think is most likely to win the election, and with what margin?

Pokemaniac John: I would say both parties have a fairly even chance. We may have more stated supporters, but you can never forget the floating voters. As for margin, whoever wins it will almost certainly be very close.

Reporter: How well do you think you have done throughout your time in power?

Pokemaniac John: I'd say me and the other members of The F&V=P Party™ have done very well. The only major problem has been the Northern Isles/Budget crisis. To be honest, I don't think it would have been much of a problem had people actually chosen to point out the typographical error in our budget, rather than just voting against it.

Reporter: How well do you think the Boo Party would have done in your place?

Pokemaniac John: I should think they would have done quite well. I am very supportive of most of the Boo Party's political ideals, and had many good dealings - though some not so good - with them in the past. It even says in their manifesto that "We have had satisfactory interactions with other parties and their leaders, particularly the comrade leader Pokemaniac John." This shows that despite their refusal to accept coalitions in tied elections, they can work well with other parties. That, coupled with their good policies, would make them an excellent choice for government. I couldn't way whether or not they would be a better choice than us.

Reporter: From that I take it you would be quite happy for them to win the election?

Pokemaniac John: Of course. I pride myself on not letting party politics get in the way of things. Provided they do as much as possible to improve Ostentia, and indeed the rest of the world, I can't say I mind who is in power.
If I didn't think I could do a good job as Prime Minster, I wouldn't have bothered to stand as a candidate in the election.

Reporter: Do you have any further comments?

Pokemaniac John: No, not that I can think of.

Reporter: Thank you.

Interview with Opposition Leader Inevitable

Reporter: How well do you think you are likely to do in this election?

Inevitable: The Boo Party does not wish to commit itself. We always strive to achieve victory, regardless of whether it is feasably attainable. However, I do expect it to be a close call.

Reporter: How well do you think the government have done over the last two terms, and do you think you could have done a better job?

Inevitable: Answering the second question first, yes, we could have. The FV&P party have endangered the country with their slow and ineffective policies. Pending the administration fiasco at the end of their first term, they were faced with the task of fixing the catastrophy the Northern Isles had been afflicted with. They suggested remedy was defeated in parliament twice, before finally making it through on the thrid attempt. Each time, nothing in the suggestion was changed. The FV&P party chose to ignore the advice of political colleagues and continue to do things their, unsuccesful, way. As a result of this, they may have endangered our interaction with the Northern Isles.

Reporter: What are your main criticisms of the governments performance over their time in power?

Inevitable: Please see the previous question

Reporter: Could you share with us any information about what you would do if you got into power at this election?

Inevitable: Sorry, anything not in our manifesto is a Boo Party secret. However, I can reveal that we have extensive plans for the Northern Isles and our Education schemes.

Reporter: Do you have any additional comments?

Inevitable: Not particularly.

Reporter: Thank you.

Interview With Speaker of the Commons Commoncold0

Reporter: Based not only on declerations of support, but also on the governments performance over the last term and previous election results etc., who do you think is most likely to win this election, and by what margin?

Commoncold0: I believe that the key factor in this election will be turnout. Throughout it's history, the F&V=P party has maintained a fairly constant level of support, the only exception being the October election landslide. However, past experiance has shown that the Boo party's share of the vote can vary considerably, and I believe that, in the event of a good turnout, the Boo party may be able to beat the F&V=P party. Victory is possible for both parties, but I don't expect either of them to have a large majority.

Reporter: How well would you say the government have done over the last two terms, and do you think the opposition could have done a better job?

Commoncold0: I would say that the government has performed competantly throughout its time in office, the only major exception being the budget crisis, which I feel has seriously damaged its credibility. As for the opposition, I recognise that after their landslide defeat, they were in a difficult situation, but I fear that they allowed a sense of complacency to set it. Despite this though, I believe that they performed well during the budget crisis, if only because afterwards the government began to seek comprimises over issues, as opposed to ignoring voices of opposition.

Reporter: Do you have any additional comments?

Commoncold0: I fear that our political landscape may be becoming increasingly stale, with rule by parliamentary factions as opposed to parties based upon genuine political ideals. Hopefully this problem will remedy itself, but if it does not, other measures may need to be taken.
