The government is tonight resisting calls for it to condemn the Asparian military actions in Nellapaland. Several pressure groups have described the government's silence as "disgraceful" and a demonstration outside Parliament is being planned. An opinion poll published today showed that 65% of people believed that the actions of Aspar were an "invasion", opposed to just 22% believing that it was just a security measure. The government has still not yet commented. In other news, following the emergency meeting of the house of representatives yesterday, Eve Ammoto has been appointed as the President of Nellapaland, the first person to occupy the position for years. She appears to have the support of the majority of the country, and the army are willing to accept her commands. She also appears to be planning to take a hard line on Aspar, tonight publicly ordering Aspar to withdraw its forces from Pollabay "or declare war". Aspar has refused to recognise the Nellapalese president or her ultimatum. |
