Several of Ostentia's leading universities have tonight been accused of discriminating against applicants from poorer backgrounds after statistics were released showing that a disproportionately high number of succesful applicants to the country's top 10 universities had a private education. The University of Aurora and the University of Salience were named as the worst culprits, with each allocating over 50% of university places to privately educated students. The universities have defied their critics however, declaring that they only allocate places on the basis of academic ability, and that they will fight any attempt at "social engineering". |

You realise that this cannot be a result of our alteration to the subsidisation bill? It looks like it is, but it's actually a subtly engineered ploy. The bill does not affect the way universities select applicants, only the way those applicants pay. What this in fact is, is naughty universities being naughty. Just like Oxford and Cambridge (not that anyone knows what they are because they obviously DON'T EXIST in Ostentia.). |
