The government has tonight achieved what many politicians promise but few politicians deliver: it has managed to cut taxes and increase public spending. This feat of fiscal management was achievable as a result of the previous government's decision to pay off the national debt, generating an increased amount of funds available for public spending at the start of this parliamentary term. The extra funding has gone into strengthening the economy and improving transport infrastructure. In other news, the Boo Party today announced a new tourism policy aimed at boosting the industry in Fondrop by funding the Fondrop tourist board from the national budget, temporarily at least. At a press conference the Leader of the Opposition, Inevitable, also suggested that a similar scheme could be proposed for Boondoxia. Although the F&V=P Party governor of Fondrop dismissed the move as a "cynical attempt by the Boo Party to try and make the people of Fondrop forget about the attacks on Fondrop's religious and cultural identity by the previous government", the people of Fondrop themselves seem to be enthusiastic about the idea. A bill detailing the proposal has been presented to the House of Commons. |
