The train network may be shut down by industrial action within a matter of days as talks between Ostentian Rail and the Ostentian Railway Workers Union collapsed tonight. Gregory Trent, the leader of the ORWU, tonight told journalists that a strike would now be inevitable unless the government orders the managers of Ostentian Rail to accept the union's pay demands. Speaking to reporters, he said "it is absolutely disgraceful that despite the increased budget of the transport sector, the managers of Ostentia Rail are still refusing to give us the pay we deserve.". Mortimer John, the chairman of Ostentian Rail, described the demands of the union as "ridiculous", before going on to say "they are asking for a pay increase far greater than those recieved in any public sector, and I refuse to give it to them. The money would be better spent on improving Ostentian Rail's infrastructure. A public service is meant to serve the public, not just its own employees.". There has been no official response from the government yet. |
