Northern Isles Chooses Independance

It would appear tonight that the separatists have won the referendum on independance for the Northern Isles. With only a few votes left to be counted, support for independance stands at 55%, with the remaining 45% of people voting against it. The Separatist Party has hailed this as a victory for the Northern Isles, while unionist opponents refused to comment on the polls. It is unclear how the newly elected government of Ostentia is going to respond to this poll. There have however been doubts expressed over the ability of the Northern Isles to declare independance with this poll. The margin of victory for the Separatists was relatively small, to the extent that independance is likely to be fiercely opposed in some areas of the Northern Isles. Also, the constitutional reforms under the previous government mean that securing parliamentary approval for independance will be extremely difficult.
