The streets of Apeiron are deserted tonight after record smog levels forced the city council to issue warnings for people to stay indoors. The decision was taken by the council after scientists declared that levels were so high that there was a real chance of people developing respiratory problems. Although air pollution is often a problem in Boondoxia's heavily industrialised capital city, smog on this scale has not been seen for decades. The problem is believed to have been caused by increasing levels of industrial output combined with unusual warm weather - increased car ownership may also be a factor. It is expected to clear by tommorrow but experts have warned that it could strike again. Environmental campaigners have issued demands for national legislation on air pollution, but business leaders are urging the government not to take a course of action that could harm the competitiveness of Ostentian industries.
