The Separatist Party has tonight conceded that it has lost the independance referendum in the Northern Isles. The result of the referendum was a narrow defeat for the independance cause, with 55% of people voting against the idea. However, the regional governor has refused to resign. Speaking on local news networks, he claimed that "Islanders have not rejected independance - they have merely decided to delay it." He also mentioned that the result was as inconclusive as the previous poll, raising the prospect of yet another referendum in the future. For now though, it seems that moves towards independance have been put on hold. |
