Crisis? What crisis? [/callaghan reference] Opening Motions don't mean anything. They've been defeated many times before - some of them have never even been voted on. Their only purpose is to remind people that the House of Commons is open again.

Actually that wasn't him being ignorant. Also, he never said it, that was a headline from the Sun. He was recommended by his press secretary to show that he was in control of the situation, and didn't view it as a major crisis. Naturally it was taken far out of hand. And also there clearly WAS a crisis :P. On a semi-related note, my great uncle was a Labour MP called Jim Callaghan, up in Lancashire ^_^. Confusions in the Commons did occur :P... |
