Communism is actually very successful, it's just that in most major circumstances the western media has lied about it, has purged it with trade embargos and funded terrorism against it.

Exactly my point. It doesn't work because not everybody wants it to work. ;)

It hasn't worked in several nations because America dabbles in the affairs of other nations. <_< But it has been very successful if you define "work" as being the achievements of the aims of the communist parties.

It shall be interesting then, we have a severe lacking of right wing parties.

The problem with communism is that the "brief dictatorship of the proletariat" often tends to become the end stage. And when communist parties adapt a policy of maintaining this as the end stage, they cease to be communist. Communism remains a utopian ideal.

As for the election, I would need a swing of 50% to secure a victory. Considering that I am the only openly right wing member of this forum, I don't think it's going to happen.

I think that Fidel Castro has managed to get reasonably close to Communism. And the Nepalese communist party has adopted democracy.

And I also doubt that will happen as well. There are now two 1 member parties though, therefore the DLP is no longer the smallest!

What about the IPNH?

But democratic communism shouldn't exist. Democracy is a system of government, while communism should bring about the abolition of government. That said, Cuban Democracy does work surprisingly well.

There's always hope for small parties. The Boo Party has a habit of imploding spectacularly about twice a year. When that happens, the smaller parties can fill the vacuum.

We're like the Universe.

We suddenly explode onto the scene in lots of wonderful colours. Then we do some normal stuff for a bit, and finally implode. Then, after a brief wait, we come back in another glorious big bang.

IPNH has more than one member.

It's rather odd, the Nepalese government are quoted as saying "democracy is essential to communism".

Well some postulate that socialism must be achieved by democracy, which will then gradually do away with capitalist ideals until a communist utopia exists...

The Marxist view of history is flawed. For every event in which society appears to have been made more equal, you are almost guaranteed to find a later event which counters it. You can't simply rely on a gradual drift towards freedom and equality.

EDIT: Anyways, back on topic.

I am pleased to announce that Sir William Buttersworth has been appointed as the party's Director of Communications. All media enquiries about the party should be directed to him.

You are not the only openly right-wing person in this forum anymore! I am a proud conservative living in the United States, having had the honor of working with our next President, Senator John McCain, multiple times, and currently working in his campaign. :D I think my credentials are pretty much solid in the right.

Means there is 3 of us now.

I'll introduce myself, I'm Sir William Buttersworth, Trade and Industry Secretary / CEO and Chairman of the Hartford Group and Director of Communications of the ODP.

What's all that mean? Ostrade is in my portfolio now as of a few days ago and I do other ... trade and industry stuff, Hartford Group is one of the largest companies on the world, and I deal with media enquiries to the ODP.

Boo and Inevitable think of me as capitalist swine. I think of myself as 'freedom bringer'.

And I'm a centrist really who is actually closer to Obama than McCain (considerably, in fact) but who doesn't tie his ideology to any one particular form eg "Social Democrat" etc.

I do however find an affinity to the issues being dealt with - and the manner in which this is happening - and to the general stance towards other parties of this party. Therefore may I join?

PS I did after all vote ODP ...

America? Wow, this forum is becoming quite international!

Anyways, would you like to join the ODP?

EDIT: Eriatarka1 you are welcome to join. Wow, this party's really starting to take off - I'm going to have to get some structures put in place I think.
