And no economy drop either...

It's one day a year - hardly cause for an economic downturn.

Hence why I didn't make a big thing of it beforehand or afterwards. But it would still affect the economy. A drop of 1% would be sufficient.

I still disagree. The creation of a public holiday will open up a new market for manufacturers to create merchendise, increasing economic output. This will offset at least half the economic cost of having a holiday, meaning that the overall drop will be <0.5% therefore non-existant. ;)

This usually doesn't happen...

That's America. It doesn't happen anywhere else in the world.

And this holiday doesn't seem to be created for commercial reasons. Furthermore I don't see thousands of people sending cards and boxes of chocolate to there loved ones saying "happy constitution day"

Holidays that have been referred to as "Hallmark Holidays" include Valentine's Day, Mother's Day[2], Fathers' Day[3], Sweetest Day[4], Christmas in July,[5] and Boss's Day.

The first 3 happen here.

A holiday does not need to be created for commercial reasons for it to be a commercial success.

Also, while people may not be sending cards and chocolates, they may buy flags, decorations etc.

I can also see it being a boom for local tourism, with people flocking to beaches or famous attractions on their day off, generating income when they get there.

May I take this oppurtunity to point out that this has nothing to do with the Boo Party and poisonings.
