In my case certainly not the first 2.
I have no desire for large amounts of gold. Why should I? I can live comfortably without it.
If I was after power, wouldn't I join/found a political party?

Indeed I would say that both lust for gold and power are more likely to lead away from neutrality, not towards it.

The DSP will see to it that foreign affairs remain as important as ever. This bill has helped towards that aim...

No, this bill has killed the issue.

If you'd made a bill saying that "All future governments must abolish grammar schools/always provide free school dinners for all/oppose all future developments on undeveloped land/build trams as opposed to buses/promote the tobacco industry/moniter every citizen 24 hours a day/any other controversial policy" then it would quite rightly be thrown out of the house.

What has happened now is that this house has voted to severely restrict the actions of any future government, to the extent that if one of our major trading partners and long term allies was attacked by a foreign agressor, we would have no choice but to cancel all trade deals with them so as to preserve neutrality. If a foreign country began systematically conquering its neighbours, we would be legally required to state that we have no opinion on the matter. If a foreign country invaded another and brutally committed genocide on another nation, we would be legally required to remain silent.

That is what this house has done. I hope all who voted for this bill are happy with themselves.

Switzerland seems to manage it IRL. They're always neutral...

Switzerland stood by as Hitler swept across Europe in WW2. They have nothing to be proud of.

They're always wrong.

This bill saw a problem and decided to try to fix it.

Unfortunately there are severe problems in the logic, as follows:

before the bill
1) Cabinet cannot decide what action to take against Autocratia, due to disagreements over severity
2) Cabinet eventually take action to some extent, not as much as the often-ignorant populace when fed from the trough of the media would like
3) Democratia is conquered and we get our explorers back (which is the most irrelevant issue in this whole thing)

after the bill
1) Cabinet cannot decide what action to take against Autocratia, because they are not allowed to take any
2) The inability to condemn Autocratia is in effect not neutrality but favourability towards them
3) Autocratia are in a strong position, as they have conquered Democratia very quickly and now have us eating out of their hand.

Aside a burgeoning economy, universal healthcare, bomb shelters everywhere, the largest actual army in the world (standing army - everyone is in it)...

Sounds more like a bloated defense budget due to stubborn neutrality

I didn't say the army was any good :P. They accidentally invaded Liechtenstein last year. Or maybe it was the other way round. I dunno...

Don't. There are pros and cons to any bill. They're just emphasising the cons...

That's because it's a lot easier to find cons than pros for this bill.

Obviously not though. All these points were raised in the discussion of it, yet people still voted in favour of it. Therefore more people must have found the pros to outweigh the cons...

It has surely been shown that there are sufficient cons to this bill by the fact that

1) I pointed out a massively major flaw in what it has tried to address compared with what it has achieved

2) Cieran completely ignored it, showing that it is indisputable fact.

That is all.
