People of Ostentia, our country stands today in the middle of a period of unprecedented prosperity and success. Under an Ostentian Democrat government, we have improved ties with other countries, lowered taxes and increased government spending to record high levels. However, due to the nature of the last parliament, we have been unable to fully implement our August manifesto - this is why we have called a snap election, so that we can gain a fresh mandate from the people to carry out our proposed changes in the next parliamentary term. Here is our five point plan for a new, renewed term in government:

  1. We will continue to ensure economic stability by capping the BTR at 32% in the current economic climate. The government's financial situation is now stronger than it has ever been in the past. There is therefore no need to introduce new tax rises which will only serve to deter economic growth. Instead, we will continue with our current tax policy of maintaining the BTR at 32%, which will allow us to maintain current high spending levels.
  2. We will stand by our policy of developing Ostentia's natural resource deposits. Our country has been blessed with deposits of natural resources - it makes sense therefore that the government should develop our primary industries and strengthen the foundations of our economy by researching and extracting these resources. Throughout this process, we will of course seek to address concerns about the environment, but we as a party can not and will not accept the argument that we should just sit on these resources and import from abroad.
  3. We will create a central police body, which will oversee the activities of regional police forces and co-ordinate nationwide investigations. Ostentia today faces many threats to its security from criminal organisations which would seek to harm our country's citizens. These threats cannot effectively be tackled without some sort of national co-ordination. A central police authority will allow for greater co-ordination between the regional police forces, and will also allow for more effective corruption investigations.
  4. We will introduce free counselling services in schools. This was a policy from our July manifesto which we were, unfortunately, unable to implement, as for much of the following parliamentary term the ODP had no representation in cabinet. We remain, however, committed to the emotional wellbeing of Ostentia's young people, and so we pledge that this term we will implement this policy.
  5. Finally, we will seek to establish friendly relations with all countries willing to do the same. This is another long term policy of the ODP, and one which we have implemented throughout the previous parliamentary term. We have acted to strengthen ties with the UCCR, Christophia, Autocratia and Nellapaland over the past term, and we intend to continue to improve relations during our next term. However, we will oppose any legislation which further restricts the ability of the government to act in the field of international relations. This is a commitment we will stand by, even in opposition.

Ostentia has come a long way, however it would be all to easy to turn back down the road of government without purpose, ad hoc policies and legislation made purely for political gain. Ensure that Ostentia doesn't turn back at this election - vote ODP.
