![]() In lieu of having an Ostentia First pressroom, I will outline the manifesto below for the October 2008 election. The Ostentia First platform has been developed with a commerce centric philosophy with strong views on International Relations and fostering Ostentia First's Eight Point Plan for the Future 1. A TAX PLAN TO BUILD THE ECONOMY - ENHANCE THE TAXATION SYSTEM. The BTR is an overly simplistic view of what should be used. Help families, reward hard work and grow our economy, with further tax relief. A five year goal so that: • those earning minimum wage or less pay no tax; • 45% of taxpayers pay no more than a 15% tax rate; • 85% pay no more than a 30% tax rate; and • 98% of taxpayers pay a top rate of no more than 35%. 2. HELPING FAMILIES AND SENIORS WITH THE COST OF LIVING. • A Tax Reform Plan that will see 65% of working women with children pay no more than a 15% tax rate. • Support for families to help meet education expenses. • A plan to boost savings to help make housing more affordable for first home buyers. 3. A 3% UNEMPLOYMENT GOAL. • A bold goal to cut the unemployment rate further to 3%. • Not only a job for all those who want one, but also the job and career you want. 4. GROWING SMALL BUSINESS. • Provide Small Business Training Vouchers to assist small business owners and their employees to improve their skills. • Keeping small business free of interference from union bosses and militant union officials. 5. BUILDING NEW OSTENTIAN TRAINING COLLEGES. • Build an extra new specialist Ostentian Technical Colleges to improve the skills of our young people and ensure our workforce has the skills needed so the Ostentian economy can continue to grow. • Two new specialist Ostentian Defence Technical Colleges to build the skills of our Defence Force personnel now and into the future. 6. BOOSTING FRONTLINE MEDICAL SERVICES. • Increase the number of Ostentian-trained GPs so that within four years there are 50% more GP training places a year. • Train an extra 50% nurses a year in hospitals and double the number of Ostentian-trained medical specialistsr. • Ensure that money for health services reaches the front line. • Fund Family Emergency Medical Centres in local communities to help families when sudden illness or injury occurs and to help take pressure off public hospital emergency departments. 7. PRACTICAL GOALS FOR INFRASTRUCTURE, WATER AND CLIMATE CHANGE. • A national plan for integrated road, rail and port infrastructure through to the year 2020 and beyond. • Water saving investments in the cities and the bush, including storm water capture, recycling and better irrigation. • A Clean Energy Target and a world-leading Emissions Trading Scheme to drive investments in low emission and renewable technologies such as solar, gas, clean coal and geothermal energy. 8. STRONGER PROTECTION FOR THE OSTENTIAN COMMUNITY. • More CCTV cameras to make communities safer, better support police and protect local businesses. • Cracking down on hoons, vandals, drug induced crime and anti-social behaviour. • Protecting our borders with a stronger and better equipped Ostentian Defence Force and tough border controls. It is time for control. Time to break crime in half. Time to ensure the economy is enhanced and time to become a world-leader. In this election, vote 1, Ostentia First. |

psst... The basic tax rate system is an essential part of the very simulation. You can set variable taxes dependant on income (indeed this is already the case) but you must be able to work out what basic tax rate that would produce. Oh and there is more to tax than income taxes... Also, with such a low level of taxation I doubt you would be able to afford your pledges, even with the growth to the economy that would be brought about. |

More CCTV cameras don't make people safer any more than watching a pot prevents it from boiling. Watching a crime won't help prevent it... |

Actually it can do. 1- If people know that there are CCTV cameras around, then they are less likely to commit a crime, as there is a greater incentive against it. 2 - CCTV cameras help people get caught. Some of these captured people are likely to be held for a while, during which time they cannot commit crimes. |
