If this passes and we lose, nothing will happen. Whereas if we win, we should get a popularity increase, or at least, the other parties should drop behind due to being proven so obviously wrong.

If this doesn't pass, our popularity goes up either way.

No, you wouldn't get a popularity increase if this were defeated - it's just a statement motion, and so has no real effect.
