Under this bill, the price of bottled or canned drinks will be increased by a small amount.

This amount can be returned to the purchaser on returning the bottle or can to a store which sells that product.

The bottle will then be returned to the manufacturer by the store. The manufacturer will then recycle or reuse the container.

This bill should increase the amount of waste recycled in Ostentia, or at the least discourage bottle/can usage.

Will cost businesses and shops a lot. Big business might cope, but independent retailers and producers will suffer.

Would it cost shops? The shop hasn't got to pay any more, the price is increased as well as a return being offered..

Somebody has to pay for the bottles to be returned to the manufacturing plant.

80p/50p is excessive - especially as a flat rate, rather than varying with the size of the bottle/can

It's just based on the German model, which is approx. 80 cents for a large bottle... What would be a suitable alternative price?

I could possibly see this bill getting some consideration at 32/20 (keeps the proportion of 8/5). 80/50 is excessive.

You could just say "a small amount".

Side note: this happens in South Australia too, 5c if returned to a recycler, works quite well apparently
