I think the battlemages were better due to the subtle highighting done on the grey cloaks. The myrmidon warjacks I find rather lacklustre as a model itself, and although your painting is mostly good, I would try to highlight and gloss varnish the crystals on it. |

The crystals have been gloss varnished but a highlight on it is actually a good idea. I'll play around with some different colors and see what I can come up with on my next set. |

I didn't think the paint was too thick on any of the other models, but I do think it's a tad too thick on that one. On a related note, I typically use skull white on an astronomican grey base for my white, and it doesn't look too bad (my awful painting skills aside). I'll also add that I don't think Myrmidons are all that suited to battle damage, although the battle damage itself looks fine (and I love the grime on its feet ).I do have to ask, have you had any games yet? I've got a lovely regular gaming spot on Sundays, which are invariably a lot of fun (although by god does Durgen Madhammer lay down a lot of blast templates made me feel guilty for fielding an army almost entirely immune to blast damage). Love to hear some tales from the table

Here's my Arcanist. He's sort of like a mechanic. The photos were taken at the exact same location in the exact same lighting conditions, but turned out darker for some reason. Kept things simple on this guy. I bought a Deneb stone foundation and the GW skull white. Amazing difference. As much as I hate to admit it, those stupid little expensive paints are worth the extra money. As always, comments are welcome.![]() ![]()

Unpainted details make me feel funny Which, admittedly, is probably why most of my minis look so messy. Honestly, not my favourite out of the ones you've done. He looks more like he's half-painted as opposed to finished

At first I thought the same as UR, but then after some closer looking, I saw that all places of the model definately have some paint on it, even if it's just undercoat. The base of the model is very good, btu now you have to finish it! I'd say some more white spots and a little stronger highlights! |

Thank you all for your comments so far! I did touch up the Arcanist a bit, but there are no armor plates left to paint white :(. I painted the metal scraps in his front pocket silver and added stronger highlights on the grey. The model is still pretty simple looking but it is an improvement. My apologies for the delay in updates, but I've been saving my painting projects for the Journeyman League that PP is running this month. We get points for models painted during the tournament so the updates should come in more frequently now! First up for the tourny is the warcaster I'm using, Lord Arcanist Ossyan! ![]() ![]()

Ossy is by far the coolest warcaster RoS has to offer. Well painted! |

Here's to hoping you go up against eGoreshade at some point Given the pair's relationship, would be a fun battle (just make sure you win ).Anyway, I like him. Looking forward to hearing about some successes on the tabletop. |

The Journeyman Tournament rules for my LGS allow us to substitute out our Battlebox for a point equivalent army that doesn't include any characters. For my starting force I had 11 points to work with. I chose Ossyan, a Hydra, and a Manticore. I went 1 win and 1 loss on the first night. We get 3 points for a win, 2 points for a loss. Points are also awarded for painting figures with 1 point awarded for a small-based mini. I won a game against another Retribution player with a traditional battle box and lost a close game against Khador. My points total after Week 1 is 6 points. Tomorrow night the league advances so I'll keep everyone updated. Next up on my painting bench is my pair of heavy 'jacks, the Hydra and the Manticore. |

Khador was Sorscha + Destroyer and Juggernaut, I presume? In that kind of match-up I'd hate to face someone that decided to substitute Sorscha for Karchev

Yea it was against Sorcha and she used her lame Icy Wind spell to launch across the table and snipe my warcaster right before I could finish the game

Tournament Update: 2 Wins, 2 Loses iirc so far this week. My list at 15 Points now includes: - Ossyan - Manticore - Hydra - Arcanist - Mage Hunter Assassin - Won against a Cygnar player with Nemo - Won against another Cygnar player with Nemo - I lost against a Cryx player with the Stealth caster with tons of infantry all immune to blast. - Lost against a Cygnar player with Major Victoria Haley in an insta-gib turn 3. Working on painting a Hydra this weekend for another 3 points. Overall I've been fairly happy with my performance and I'm learning to love Ossyan ALOT. I feel like my play with him is improving in leaps and bounds. Just ordered a new shipment of models so I'm pretty excited to try out new options with him. |

Oh yeesh. eHaley Hilariously, she's the only Cygnar Warcaster I've ever beaten, but that was largely 'cos her player forgot her Feat three turns in a row. That time bomb spell is bad enough before she gimps your army for a round For the Cryx player, it sounds like Deneghra for the Warcaster (not surprising, she is the battlebox Warcaster), although I've no idea what the infantry were Another nasty denial Warcaster. Still, good to see you enjoying the game What's next on the list, may I ask?

Next week is a really big jump in points, going up to 25. For me I'll be adding a Chimera and a unit of House Shyeel Battle Mages. Now that I have a few games under my belt, I'm pretty underwhelmed by these additions, but I'll have to make due until my shipment of new stuff comes in. |
