I hope that is about the Micron pens. I definitely felt like I was "cheating" when I first used them because they are not paint. But the results are not easily argued with. Crisp detailing in tight spaces. (I have even seen them used for banner/emblem drawing, tattoos and the like.) I don't use them too much because they look too clean on my skaven. Since your minis are so crisp I thought they might fill the bill. |

Here's a unit of Dawnguard Sentinels I painted a week or two ago. I'd rather have Invictors, but my LGS only had these in stock Painting wise i've got mixed feelings about them. The white make it really difficult, but the swords came out great. I'm really happy with how well the space wolves grey compliments the rest of the colour scheme.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Next up is my Mage Hunter Assassin, also painted about a week ago. Didn't have much motivation for this model since I can never make it work for me on the tabletop. Pretty happy with the paint job though, I think it turned out really well.![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

A new caster! Dawnlord Vyros is the last project from last week to post. From now on, it should be a much more natural painting log instead of sporadic like it's been. Overall I'm really happy with Vyros as well. He got painted up fairly quickly for a character model. Particularly like his sword which was done in the same style of the other Dawnguard. His hawk looks a little muddy though but I don't really have the colours for a high contrast. Currently it's scorched brown base with vermin brown highlights. I added some red gore to the tips of the wings as well for a red-tailed hawk effect. Not sure if it's my colorblindness or what but I can't see the difference :(. Also in photographing him I noticed that his exhaust vents need to be blackened. I've only used Vyros on the battlefield a few times and haven't enjoyed him at all. His feat is beyond lackluster and although his battlegroup movement can be really nice, he's extremely focus starved and I have trouble keeping him in the front lines without him getting gobbled up. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hmm... Has anyone else had this problem? I host all of my files on facebook first so maybe it's an international issue? |

Nopes, no issues, i can see them all. One question. Where do you get these Micron pens? I r will use the sh*t out of them on my Grey Knights due to glowy psyker-ness and what not and definately on my tau, so many blinking lights that need painting but every paintbrush is too big, even the fine-detail brush

They should be available at any art supply store. They come in different tip thicknesses. I think I have .5, which is some fraction of a millimeter. (Dang! I should get a commission! )They look great BD. Like Way-too-cool storm troopers! That said, have you thought about adding a third complimentary colour for highlights, sashes, etc. You already use a light blue/grey. If you painted the sashes that way (to look like silk?) on every few, it might make the warband pop a bit more. Just a thought. Look forward to more! |

Well, I can see every picture before the Phoenix (page 4) perfectly fine. The Phoenix and Mage Hunter Strike Force have one or two pictures I can't make out, but this latest batch I can only see one picture of Vyros, one picture of the Mage Hunter Assassin, one picture of the Dawnguard and the Before picture on the use of Micropens (which annoys me, as I rather wanted to see the after picture ).

I've got my projects from last week uploaded and ready to go. First one is the Aspis. As excited as I am about the new model, I'm having trouble finding room for it in my lists :(. In any case, this really highlights my super awesome new blue micron pen. I think this REALLY helps out with my colour scheme overall and adds enough variation to add detail to the figure without taking away from my monochrome theme too much. I'm also particularly fond of the gloss coating on the repulsor fists. I left out the battle damage on this one also, still not happy with the effects I'm getting. I went back to fix the lack of exhaust on Vyros but didn't bother rephotographing him. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Also managed to paint up a unit of Stormfall Archers. With these models I'm really happy with the three different shades of dulled metal I managed to bring out. Of hobbying note, I decided that I absolutely hate the GW Purity Seal I've been using to seal the models after they are finished. I find that it really dulls the colours out and is piss poor with metallics as it takes out all of the shiney from them. Any recommendations on other sealing options would be greatly appreciated. Despite the discoloration, the purity seal really does do a lot to prevent chipping. On the tabletop they've been INCREDIBLY helpful in alot of my lists. I think the internet theorycrafting rings true though, these guys are definitely better when taking 2 units of them and lose lot of their effectiveness on their own. With the new jacks coming out it's going to be a tough decision for Ossyan to replace his Banshee with two of these guys. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
