Okies, long, long time without posting. Sorry about that. I meant to post these before the weekend, but I couldn't find the damned basing material until this afternoon (it turned out to underneath something that I'd been staring at the whole time I was searching for it I am not good at finding things). Anyway, I finished my Rorsh and Brine. Or rather, I say I've finished them, I may go back to them and change some things between now and the weekend, but if I haven't done anything by then I'll probably seal the models and leave them. So, without further ado, here they are:![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So, since most people on this site are either unfamiliar or only vaguely familiar with Warmachine/Hordes, I'll do my usual little spiel about the background and rules of these characters. To start with, Rorsh is the little one, Brine the big one. Rorsh is something called a Lesser Warlock. This means he's a solo, not a Warlock, but happens to have many of the same rules as Warlocks. That is, he has a Fury stat (albeit a really low one), the ability to control Warbeasts, has his own Battlegroup (the term for a Warlock and their attached Warbeasts), and can spend his Fury to cast spells, Transfer damage, heal himself or his Warbeast/s, and buy/boost attacks. With a Repeating Pig Iron and a large load of Dynamite, and the ability to use both weapons in his activation, Rorsh is capable of laying out a whole lot of firepower on his own, and is especially dangerous thanks to his ability to boost those attacks and buy a second shot with his Pig Iron. He has a rule called Dig In, which means he can use his action (so instead of attacking) to gain cover and immunity to Blast Damage, and keeps those things until he moves or is moved by some other effect. It's a good thing he has this ability, as well as fairly high defensive stats, as if Rorsh dies, Brine is removed from the table, and any other Warbeasts attached to Rorsh go Wild. All that is just the start, when it comes to rules. Rorsh has a whole plethora of awesome and sneaky rules that let him play absolute havoc with the opposition. He has another Special Action called Diversionary Tactics, where everyone near him takes a low POW blast (representing Rorsh dropping some Dynamite to distract enemies), and then allowing him to move ignoring Free Strikes. A good way to get him out of combat, yes, but better than that if Brine is in the explosion, not only does Brine not take damage, but he can move as well. This means you can move Rorsh double his movement and, on top of that, have Brine move before he has to activate, letting you easily set up charges, slams, or perform hit-and-run attacks (charge Brine in, Diversionary Tactics him out, and move something else in to stop the enemy from following). Brine himself is rather pillow-fisted for a Heavy Warbeast, but he has a rather powerful Animus that lets him rip through other Warbeasts (gives an additional damage die against living models, shame it's range self ), several different ways to charge for free (which gives him more Fury for buying extra attacks), and his stats are all high enough to make him a serious threat to an enemy Warlock or Warcaster, which makes Rorsh's Diversionary Tactics exceedingly dangerous. On top of that, if he dies, or if Rorsh is killed, before you remove Brine from the table he can move 3" and make one last attack. Since the Animus lasts for an entire round, I once won a game against a Blindwater Congregation army when Bloody Barnabus killed Brine, only to have Brine hit him with one last, effectively Weapon Master, attack. The pair have several other rules as well, but if I went into every single thing they could do I'd be typing forever, so I'll cut things short there. Suffice to say, they're an extremely mobile, relatively deadly pair. Background-wise, these two are just brilliant They're renowned criminals with bounties on their head from every civilised nation, as well as a few not-so-civilised ones. Despite this, they work for every single faction in the game except for the Retribution of Scyrah, and that's only because the silly elves don't like to employ non-elves There's a great story piece about the pair that can be found in this link:Rorsh and Brine Story Link I heartily recommend it to anyone that's interested. It's a really fun story, and it really made me adore the pair So, yeah. That's about it. I've been doing quite a bit of painting lately, and with any luck I should have some more models (namely that second War Hog) finished within a week or so. ...if I'm lucky. |
