MOULDER MONTHLY SUPPLEMENT
Special Hunt Edition I

Loyal denizens of Hell Pit and future of subjects of the coming glorious Mutae, the HellCouncil is pleased to announce that the Hunt has begun! Officially dubbed the “Space Hulk Hunt,” or “Hulk Hunt” for short, this Hunt promises to bring in a wide range of exciting beasts, contained on this floating, hulking hunk of metal!

Our loyal reporters have been dispatched to accompany teams of hunters, and are sending beack images and reports via experimental, portable farsqueakers. Live reports are being sent in to some of Hell Pit’s major pubs, so head down to Rosko’s, Boregard’s, Rat’n’Chips, Squeaky Bowl, or the Inheritance Pit-Bar and Grille to follow the action live!

For those of you who can’t make it, or when the feeds go down, here is the ever-reliable written word, officially approved by Raznarth, Screamingclaw, and the rest of the HellCouncil! The rest of the report will go through the actions of each guild.

Ventariis’ Trackers
by Dorevik the Deranged

The stench of Hell Pit’s glory and coming victory was thick in the air as Ventariis’ elite hunting force assembled in the Hunting Guild Muster Hall. The guild had several roots, each one going to a different spot on the ship, and different parties of skilled Hunters traveled down each one. There are very few Moulders who have gained access to this guild, but I am here with two of them, Lacunae and Franck Feldscherr. Who have made a daring decision: to head down the central root-bridge, which is going directly to what Master of the Hunt Korr Ventariis has called “the Hive!” Lacunae and Franck both gave statements emphasizing their preparedness and readiness for what comes ahead, and each of them left with a large contingent of followers.

Franck brings his elephant and pack-beast, Rúnbeinnir, alongside two of his fearsome pitbeasts, Caerul and the terrifying Xa’kotalot. The elephant carries dwarfen artillery, and is covered with arcane dwarfen runes. He also brings with him a small militia of dwarfs, including Nurri the Nameless’s Slayers, Baj’s Hunterdorfs, famed rune-carver Grogg Thundersmith, and many others.

Lacunae, known for her work with the pitiful Elven homeland movements, brings a smaller, but no less fearsome, force, including tournament champion Iggy the Fool, the Chariot, and Ceberat. Several elves from the Twilight Guardians, as well as an attachment of Huntress Morvaneth's professional Druchii Hunters, accompany her.

The pair of them descended the central root, following in the footsteps of a large force led by Korr Ventariis himself, and I followed them down. It was a long walk down the root, but eventually we emerged in a strange area. The sound of battle already reached our ears, and Franck and Lacunae spent a short time conversing, dwarfs and elves getting along in a sickeningly cheesy display, before forcing a path through what can only be described as a heretical version of Corpus Mutae’s Chapel of Flesh. Everything around us seems to be alive, but it all pulsates with a hideous inner rhythm that is anathema to our future god.

We quickly branched off from Korr’s group, which headed straight into the center of the Hive. We can confirm now that the enemy we face are, indeed, the mythical “Tyranids” that many of our prisoners from other Prey Isles feared so much, and Korr is bravely heading straight into the Hive.

Lacunae and Franck, however, headed around it in a roundabout fashion, and actually worked their way through tunnels that were half-flesh, half-steel, to a space below the Hive. And what a find they found! They stumbled into what can only be described as an egg chamber! From wet, dripping holes in the fleshy ceiling came eggs of all shapes and sizes, falling down to the floor.

But the eggs were not left unguarded, oh no! As the forces spilled into the enormous egg chamber, they found themselves confronted with four forces of Tyranids!

1). From above, a swarmling of six winged beasts, holding some sort of flesh-like gun, alongside their natural fearsome claws and fangs. A serpentine, six-claws beast also clings to the ceiling.

2). At the center of the chamber, a floating beast with an enormous head and withered body, surrounded by a dozen small “gaunts” armed with scything talons. The floating Tyranid floats above a single enormous egg.

3). To the left, near Lacunae’s forces, is another large, serpentine creature with six scything talons, alongside four large, armoured Tyranids armed with some sort of long flesh-rifle.

4). To the right, near Franck’s forces, is a massive Tyranid that I think I’ve read about before, known as a Tervigon. It was facing away from us, but slowly turned as we entered the room, holes in its belly opening to reveal the faces of more Tyranids within…

Choices: These four threats need to be eliminated before you can gain a bounty of Tyranid eggs! What are your battle strategies? Who will assault what, and how? What are you targeting for death, and what for capture, and what for maiming?

Starhunter Alliance, Strikeforce Alpha
by Vasqual the Stunted

The Starhunter Alliance landed near the ship’s command center, or the “bridge” as the Enginseers have told me it is called. Most of the expert Hunters, however, did not deign to approach the actual bridge, dismissing it as having little monstrous value. However, the guild’s Moulder attachments, dubbed “Strikeforce Alpha,” made their way directly towards it. The Strikeforce is led by librarian Victor von Hohenfeld, in turn leading his beasts the Edmunds and Sigmund. Also with him are Tirr the Strange and his at least fifty-strong Wyrd Militia Division, alongside beasts Apophis and Proto-Alpha, and the new Sir Bacon, leading his debut “Tuber” beasts.

We took an immediate left and fanned out around the Bridge. It was full of equipment of all types, most of it broken. Tirr spent some time fiddling with it, and arranged for some of it to be stored for later. Others looted the weapons of the man-thing corpses scattered about the room, being especially interested in the power armour some of them possessed.

As the group scavenged, a sound startled us all, and some of the equipment began to crackle. An image of a robotic face, reminding me much of Gimble, but different – appeared on some sort of heretical farsqueaker screen. It asked a question in a Human Tongue I could only barely understand, but which I translated into Queekish: “Filthy Xenos (do not recognize this word), do you seek the total annihilation of our Tyranid Foe? We shall aid you and for now withhold our judgment if this is so, to fight our common enemy.”

But before we could answer, as if from thin air, a hideous insectoid beast, with scything talons on its shoulders and a face like an octopus, appeared between our group and the sealed doors to a second section of the bridge, where we hoped to find juicier prey. A thick scent filled the air, and the pitter-patter of claws brought a small force of giant fanged maggots – at least thirty of them – alongside oddly Skavenoid, four-limped beings with razor-sharp talons numbering at least twelve. They have cut off our exit from the bridge… and strange patterns in the air on the ceiling and by a particularly large machine letting off a constant fountain of sparks lead me to believe that more invisible foes might be near… I may not make it back alive.

Choices: Foes from behind, and invisible foes surround you! Many of the WMD militia has picked up broken weapons, which still seem more effective than their own. The voice still awaits an answer; a yes or no from the Team Leader is necessary, submitted alongside orders. A piece of sparking equipment that looks very much like a broken power converter of some sort, with lots of energy running through it, is directly behind the formerly invisible foe. At least forty-two enemies, some swarming maggots, and others fearsome beasts that look like shocktroopers, are swarming onto the bridge behind you, cutting you off from escape, while there are at least two more invisible beings nearby. Who assaults who? Who is a target for maiming and capture? Do you accept aid, knowing it may damage goods? Can you use the sparking equipment to your gain?

Loot Get
(to be added en masse after tithes and division at Hunt end)
-5 pieces Bridge Machinery
-2 pieces of broken power armour
-2 broken chainswords
-1 broken powersword
-4 broken bolters

The League of Explorers
Team Engine by Wortik the Wretched
The League of Explorers, landing in the Engine Room, quickly scattered in many different directions, Moulders and hunters alike. A pair of Moulders, Tekris Zimkus and Guldan the evil dwarf, immediateky embarked down a path of great peril: into the heart of a titanic engine in the engine room, a path that even the Enginseers accompanying the Hunters seemed wary about entering.

Guldan, and apprentice Snorri, brought with them Morax, Karl, and Lizardon, while Tekris brought Gribble, Brxx, and the beasts Peggy the Rat and Hisskern, as well as hazmat suits, a rubber inflatable ball, and a spicy sandwich, which Tekris says Gribble says is very important. I accompanied them into the heart of the engine, and as we descended up into the "warp"-drive, the air began to feel funny and I started seeing things... things that weren't there.

We quickly found ourselves standing in a strange room, where the walls are made of faces... faces screaming in silent agony. The floor shifted underneath us, revealing faces there as well. One tried to bite my feet. The exits vanished, replaced by faces... oh, the faces! Where is this place? In each corner of the room, a face's mouth opened, opening up so large that we could all easily walk through it...

...through one lay a battlefield, and rivers of blood. A horned, winged beast looked balefully over the horizon, its back turned to us, surrounded by hordes of red-skinned monsters, all fighting one another at its feet.

Through another was a sea of undulating, pulsating flesh. White and pink-skinned beasts lay strewn all about it, eyes closed and shuddering in agony and pleasure, not moving, and not reacting. In the distance, a Prince sits upon a throne.

Through the third, the stench of decay washes over us, and pustules the size of hills bubble and burst, while misshapen forms wander.

Through the last are flames of blue and yellow, and an unblinking eye.

And then the room expands, and before us stands a pair of two humans in armour of deepest black and horns; they carry rifles on their persons. What will we do?

Choices: You can go through any of the four doors. Through one is a large horned daemonic entity, and about ten smaller ones fighting each other. Through another is a sea of flesh, with about twenty prone male and female, misshapen beings lying around, and about four strange two-legged purple beasts. Through another is a disease-ridden landscape of flesh, with about twelve fat, misshapen, ugly brutes wandering around. Through the fourth are flames and an eye. Before you are two power-armour clad, horned man-things with big guns.. You can fight them, run from them, capture them, or lure them through a door. What will you do?

Team Corridor, by Zargritch Junior
Howdy readers! I am so excited to write this up for you all! Now, I'm following two stellar Moulders - Savannah and her large, fortified tunnel rusher with a gunnery cabin on top, alongside Gragg'Dvorak and friends Ed, Fred, and Snurky, and Itchy'Bigsy, Catchy'Snatchy, and Tummy Toothless. We headed straight out, down the corridor leading out of the engine room, and quickly found ourselves standing at an intersection. Crossing the intersection was a flow of insectoid foes, some of which pulled out of the flow to face us!

A pair of vicious red beasts, standing on all fours with enormous bone-guns on their back, took up positions at each end of the corridor, while eight insectoid creatures, each with a pair of scything claws, immediately charged our group! I hope we will make it!

Choices: Simple choice: two larger ranged Tyranids are holding back, certainly waiting to fire, while eight smaller Tyranids with visious claws rush at you to defend their foes! How do you handle them?

Team Below, by Ikkaku Madarame
It is time for the Moulders of Hell Pit to show their battle prowess! I accompanied a pair of Moulders, goblin kingpin Shifty Goldgrabb and his small army of greenskins, and Tex'Hallik the Tainted One, alongside his loyal Saurian retainers. We took a strange lift down from the Engine Rooms, and emerged into dark room, full of sparking and malfunctioning equipment. It took several trips to get everyone down, but when we were finished, we made our way through the room... it seemed to me that we were in some sort of medical room... or a prison cell.

A hiss came from before us, and we stopped. Out of the shadows ahead of us came four figures: one was a man wearing a suit of powerful-looking, horned armour with glowing eyes; the second was an older man in the robes of some sort of priest, with a glowing red cybernetic eye and two floating drones above his head; the third was hanging in the back, a woman holding a rifle trained on Tex'Hallik's head, and the fourth had already crawled onto the ceiling; and was a woman with Tyranid claws on her shoulders. She looked down and smiled, and then spoke blasphemy, saying "Bow down before me, for I am Mutae!"

Choices: Four foes. Who will attack what, or will you talk? Will you surrender? How could that be Mutae? How will you eliminate or capture these foes?

Bloodhunters United
Team Cargo Hold, by Kraven Reektail

Neek-neek! Greetings, readers of the Moulder Monthly! It is I, the glorious Kraven Reektail, with tales from the frontlines of the Hulk Hunt! The Bloodhunters United Moulder division, led by Sho-Yin, has split in two. My associate, former Bloodbowl coach Vosnaardiskikk, accompanies Sinclaw and Kretchitt to a lower level of the ship, while Sho-Yin, Neesha Blackwing, and Lil’lil’eth’eth head deeper into the guild’s landing point, the cargo hold.

Sho-Yin brings with him Shinjitch, Pride, and Nightmare, alongside a mysterious creature called “Xiao-Lin” and apprentice Skidditch. Neesha brings along with her Copac Viu and Chara, and she also commands a small force of Morvaneth’s Elite Trackers, demonstrating her deep connections to the Hunter’s Guild and her fellow elves.

The trio headed deeper into the cargo hold, amid dozens of locked and sealed crates. Teams of Hunters are already working to unseal those and transport them back to Hell Pit, so we head on deeper inside. As we go, the crates become less well-sealed, and some even are open; the Moulders grab what they can as they head deeper inside. Teams of Hunters call to each other around us, and we are reminded that we are all but one part of a glorious master race, all heading towards our ultimate godhood!

As we advanced, the sound of other Hunt teams grew quieter, and the disquieting sound of pattering, chittering, and snarling grew louder, until we realized that we were surrounded by a veritable tide of living beings. We stand now atop a bridge between shelves storing cargo crates, raised above the ground level, watching an endless flow of insectoid beings pass below us, armed mostly with talons, but a few holding fleshy guns. Above them, and just below us, winged versions of the same fly, while an occasional titanic monstrosity walks among them. They are all heading back the way we came… back towards the path leading to Hell Pit.

The sea of flesh began to thin slightly, and we found ourselves face to face with three terrible foes, each surrounded by a small group of three warriors: an enormous, heavily-armoured beetle, a large snail with tentacles, and a monstrous warrior that towered over its escort, two enormous scything talons above its head; what we have been told is known as a carnifex.

Choices: The sea of Tyranids around you has thinned, but if you do not capture or incapacitate your foes quickly enough, it may return. There are three foes around you, each one surrounded by a handful of grunts. They are each moving forward, but far enough away from each other than if you act quickly, you should not draw the attention of the others. You can also easily catch up to the swarming sea ahead if you wish to hunt for other prey…

Team Stairs, by Coach Vosnaardiskikk
Reporting isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, you know. After spending many years training Blood Bowl players, it was quite a change – and demotion – to be reduced to a Sevritor and a mere reporter. But, Hunts like these all make the job worthwhile, and almost make it seem like I’m back on the pitch.

And now, I follow an intrepid pair of Moulders descending a staircase from the Cargo Hold: Sinclaw Darklurker and Kretchitt the Corpulent. Kretchitt brings with him beasts Desolas, the crab Tamatoa, and Mangler, along with a hefty length of chain for capturing beasts alongside his apprentice Fleabag. Sinclaw brings with him a small arsenal of weapons, and the beasts Pumpkin and Beartooth. A small force, but one that can move swiftly and adapt well.

At the bottom of the staircase, we find ourselves in a long corridor. The corpses of man-things litter the dimly-lit floor, and on them feast a small army of flesh-eating maggots. They pay us little heed as we make our way forward.

More worrisome was the sound of gunfire and the rending of flesh ahead. There is a room ahead, I am sure; a literal light at the end of the steel tunnel. The air smells of smoke. A sound of twisted metal sounded from behind us, and one of the walls of the corridor caved in, the metal melting. Something stepped through the gap in the wall, hunched over. It stands tall, on two legs, and looks heavily armoured. It resembles a lizard crossed with a bug, and its body seems to be able to open, revealing a second mouth in its chest. Behind it, a disembodied head floats in, and a small grunt with a rifle, dropping a steaming liquid stands between the larger beast’s legs.

The brave Moulders face these three foes, and nearly miss those that approach from the other side; a veritable wall of flesh-eating maggots is growing, separating us from the room that sounds with battle. What they we do?

Choices: In a narrow corridor that only allows for two beasts to stand side by side, behind them is a large predator, a floating head behind it, and a small beast with an acid-gun in front. In front of them is a wall of at least twenty large, flesh-eating, hungry maggots the size of a Skaven’s arm. Who attacks what, with what means, and what beasts will be preserved or merely mortally injured?

Ventariis’ Trackers
by Dorevik the Deranged

In the egg chamber, Ventariis' Trackers' Moulder representatives, Franck and Lacunae, find themselves face-to-face with dreaded foes on all sides, and no back-up! Immediately, Grogg Thundersmith, Franck's ally, hammered something on his anvil, and the Tyranidical foe all around us shrieked in confusion! All chaos quickly broke loose then, as Franck and Lacunae's elven and dwarfen armies, working in disturbing unison launched attacks on their foes! Lacunae's forces made straight for the floating, now-confused head! Lacunae secures the beast, as well as the egg!

Lacunae's beasts make quick work of the guardian gaunts, and pin down and cover the withered beast with a net, quickly incapacitating it. Lacunae's underlings ready their bows, and take fire at the winged beasts above, managing to take them all down... but at some cost! The beasts' organic cannons take down four loyal elves, and they die shrieking as they are consumed by swarms of beetles from their foes' guns, and acid from their mouths. One of the flying beasts falls down alive, and Lacunae's elves also secure it with nets. Up above, however, the serpentine Tyranid continues to sit and wait, out of reach.

Franck's forces, meanwhile, launched a full assault on the Tervigon! Franck's mobile artilleraphant unleashed the fury of Mutae on the beast, and the giant Domovoi joins in the assault, quickly damaging the beast quite heavily. They managed to kill the lesser beasts inside the Tervigon, but the Tervigon itself lives on, clinging to life and hissing and roaring its fury... but not able to move very far. Hunterdwarfs quickly net and secure the heavily-injured Tervigon.

Franck's other forces, meanwhile, focused on the four heavily armoured Guardian Tyranids, and the other serpentine beast. The serpent shoots forward, heading directly for the dwarfen forces. Xa'kotalot steps forward, axes spinning and makes short work of the ravenous serpent. However, the dwarfen cannons appear to have little affect on the heavily armoured Tyranids... they hardly seem phased at all by the weapons of the dwarfs. They return fire with their own guns, shooting huge shards of bones at the dwarfs... three dwarfs fall quickly to the fire, and Runbeinnir is hit by several of the shards, trumpeting its pain!

The ravenous serpent on the ceiling chooses this moment to drop down on Lacunae, forcing the elf to narrow dodge out of the way, and causing her to sic her beasts on it! A fierce melee ensues, with the Chariot being heavily damaged... but the serpent is down, dead.

Other foes incapacitated, the elves turn to the four huge Tyranids with their guns. The elves secure their organic loot and move to join their dwarfen comrades, and another elf is wounded by the boneshot! The four of them back up, so they are even further away... a full frontal assault on them would be foolish, at least not without some sort of armoured vehicle...

Choices: Four fearsome Hive Guards remain... with cannons capable of, quite possibly taking out Franck's elephant. While the other Tyranids became easy prey following Grogg's actions, these four are a serious threat, and while a full charge would likely assure victory... it would come at great cost. Four elves and three armoured dwarfs have fallen, and the Chariot and Runbeinnir are heavily damaged. The Tervigon is (barely) alive, but incapacitated, behind the elves and dwarfs. There are eggs scattered everywhere. The Tyranids look ready to fire...

Starhunter Alliance, Strikeforce Alpha
by Vasqual the Stunted

What a drastic change in situation! I live on! Victor talked to the face on the strange farsqueaker, claiming that Victor was a human, and an Inquisitor - hopefully he won't get flak back home for that little fib - which appeared to please the face on the screen. Meanwhile, all of those loyal to Mutae in the room - my sweet self included - leapt onto rubberized floor, and Sir Bacon through chain into the sparking machinery... and lit up the room like a thunderstorm! My fur is singed and standing on end, but my what a show! Three invisible beasts made themselves visible, one of them collapsing to the floor and shuddering until it is still. Another seems unable to move, and a small contingent of Tirr's WMD incapacitated it quickly.

The last foe, however, regained its invisibility, but Tirr's beast Apophis was able to sense it and drag it down from the ceiling, sinking poisonous fangs into it until it could no longer fight back. It seems as if we got the drop on the ambushers this time!

But an approaching horde still... well, approached, and Tirr's WMDs could only hold them off for so long! Ten of them fell to the maggots preceding the swarm before the door to the bridge proper burst open and, barely noticing us, five heavily-armoured beings - or were they automatons? - carrying huge pistols and glowing swords, charged across the room, pushing past the WMD - killing another poor soul in the process - and beginning to decimate the oncoming Tyranid horde! Victor, Bacon, and Tirr all held back, only intervening when it looked like one of the five was in danger, until the threat was eliminated, all of the enemies dead.

The five of them turned back to the group. Three were armed only with huge guns, while a fourth had a gun alongside a huge, glowing sword. A fifth was smaller than the others, but his armour moved in strange ways, and was covered in all sorts of strange gadgets and trinkets. He had stayed in the back of the fight, occasionally shooting beams from his armour, but otherwise remaining oddly inactive.

The one with two weapons seemed to be in charge, and he thanked us all for our help… well, he thanked Victor, though questioned his alliance with “xenos.” He then said that he would take back the ship with our help, and turned and began to walk away down the hall. But before he did, he told his associated to kill our two captive beasts, wasting potential parts of Mutae!

Two men moved to carry out the deed, guns held high, while the other gunner followed the leader. The strange one watched us, looking briefly towards the room he had come from… and from where something glinted.

Choices: The fearsome Space Marines have nearly single-handedly eliminated the horde facing you! They have asked – nay, demanded – Victor the Inquisitor’s help in clearing the rest of the ship, and also will kill your two lictors. Do you go with them? Do you negotiate a new arrangement? Or do you fight?

The League of Explorers
Team Engine by Wortik the Wretched
How brave are the servants of Mutae! Tekris and Guldan wasted no time in leaping into battle, driving their beasts and allies before them to assault the two horned and armoured figures, doubtless servants of Chaos!

Guldan’s beast Morax cleaves one in two using its warp-blades, and it topples to the ground, dropping its weapon and not moving. Guldan’s beast then moved to help Tekris, whose beasts struggle to affect the warrior, despite Tekris waving the sandwich suggestively in front of its face.

The Marine shoots Hisskern, causing the beast to collapse, still alive, but struggling to do more than breathe. Morax moved to take care of the second warrior, but he steps back into the bloody battlefield, beckoning them to follow.

The gate to the flaming land with the glowing eye dances, and then the eyes speaks to us! It said “Come, step into my domain… and let me heal your wounded.”

And after we blinked, suddenly all of Guldan’s and Tekris’ beasts were on the ground, bleeding heavily and scarred! Morax struggles to his feet, and Tekris quickly applies Skalm to Hisskern, getting the beast on its feet again. The Chaos Marine strides back towards them, raising a pistol. Behind him, a pair of red daemons seem to have noticed us, and follow him towards us, wielding flaming swords!

And the eye once more repeats its offer behind us...

..and unbelievably, Tekris and Guldan dragged their entourages through the door and into the flames! Not about to be left behind, I followed…

…and found myself standing alongside a fully-healed retinue of beasts, standing before a throne, on which sat a sight I remember from Ikkilit’s attack… a Lord of Change!

“You defeated my brother Tzaar once,” it croaked. “And for that we thank you. But now, you have a most unusual task before you…” It chuckled. Space appeared between us and the throne, alongside a single daemon, resembling an enormous Skaven with four horns, hooves, and a large glaive made of pure Warpstone.

“You serve the Skaven race of Hell Pit, yet you have cast aside your god. Prove your devotion to Mutae, and kill your former god’s harbinger… oh, I suppose we should not heave the Dawi-Zharr out, no?” A flaming bull then appeared beside the Lord of Vermin.

“Kill your gods, and your Mutae shall have a body like no other god…”

Choices: The Lord of Change sits on a throne, and between you and him are a Verminlord and some manifestation of Hashut. You are all at full strength… what do you do? Yes, you guys got the acid trip plot. :P It’s what you get for walking into a warp drive. :P

Wow, howdy howdy howdy! What a show this has been! Savannah and Gragg are really giving it their all down here, pulling through when it looked like hope was lost! Immediately upon seeing our foe, Savannah, atop Mule, took on the small fodder, shredding them with her hyper-ratling gun, while Gragg sent his beasts after the two cannon-laden ones!

As Gragg’s beasts charged forward, flames spewed from the cannons on the backs of the beasts, Ed and Fred took care of one quickly, sustaining severe burns in the process. The other beast was weakened by another burst of fire from Savannah, and Gragg’s other beasts managed to capture it and quickly incapacitate it!

Something else then moved out of the swarm… it floated above the steel floor, its countless long tentacles reaching out ahead of it, dripping with all forms of liquid…

…and then something nearly knocked Savannah off of Mule, and badly slashed the Rusher’s flank. Savannah looked around wildly for her foe, but found nothing there….

Choices: A huge, floating beast with numerous tentacles floats towards you, and something invisible is behind you, cutting you off from escape!

In a strange twist, the Moulder-hunters did not fight. Shifty grinned at the sight of them, and turned his attention to Mutae, blasphemously bowing to her. This “Mutae” grinned and plopped down to the floor. “Mutae rewards loyalty handsomely… follow your god.” She then loped off into the distance. Hesitantly, Tex’Hallik and Shifty followed, and I as well.

We then found ourselves in a room full of cryostasis chambers! “Take these with you, as gestures of Mutae’s benevolence!” Mutae’s companions stood silently at the far end of the room. “But first, you must prove your worth.” Mutae pointed ahead, and Tex’Hallik noticed, standing there across the room, was an Orck – but an Ork that looked half-machine, complete with a giant mechanical claw and a cannon of some sort.

It looked up and met Tex’s eyes. Shifty stepped back. “All yours,” the goblin said. He nodded to Mutae. “Watch him. He’s good.”

Mutae hissed. “Kill the green foe, and more rewards will follow!” The Ork charged.

Choices: How do you defend yourself? How do you counterattack?

There are no words to describe the glory of Hell Pit’s Moulders! In a stunning display, Sho-Yin and Neesha managed to capture a Carnifex! It all happened so quickly, but Sho-Yin’s beasts showed their mettle! Nightmare and Shinjitch quickly incapacitated the warriors, while the fearsome plantlion Pride went straight for the Carnifex! A fierce melee ensued, and Pride was all but ripped to shreds… but then Neesha’s reinforcements came in, alongside Shinjitch and Nightmare, and the Carnifex quickly fell, limbs bound, and unfortunately some severed.

Neesha also managed to capture a few of the flying and swarming beasties, using Chara and Copac Viu to distract, hypnotize, and then capture them!

Unfortunately, things never let up for servants of Mutae, and the enormous shelled snail-like beast has turned its attention onto us… alongside its escort, which has now been joined by at least a dozen enormous maggots with razor-sharp teeth…

Choices: Carnifex down, but snail-beast, three warriors, and twelve large biting maggots have their beady little eyes on you! How do you take them down?

Team Stairs, by Coach Vosnaardiskikk
Ratling guns are, perhaps, the greatest invention of Skavenkind. Sinclaw used his to great effect, thinning the wall of maggots behind them, while the other attacked the beasts in front. The floating head stayed in the back, and then emitted a piercing shriek that nearly made me lose consciousness… it was a scream coming, impossibly, from inside my head, and rendered my brain into jelly. The other felt it too, and the chest-mawed beast sprang forward, ripping into and several injuring Pumpkin before Kretchitt’s beasts distracted it. Desolas quickly also suffered critical injuries, as the psychic scream became too much…

…and so, in true Skaven fashion, Sinclaw, shouted “Hadouken!” and blasted a huge fireball through the maggot swarm, scooping some up as he went, and fleeing the Tyranids. Kretchitt followed… as did the other three Tyranids, the one with the acid gun firing into the fleeing Skaven, but missing.

We all run down the corridor, predators hot on our tails, and take a turn into a room…. In which six large Tyranids, armed with large cannons, are engaged in battle with a dozen well-armoured humans! If we step forward any more, we’ll be caught in the crossfire… but behind us, the trio fast approaches, and we had little luck the last time…

Choices: The same three beasts follow you into an open room, in which a dozen space marines are engaged in fierce combat with six large Tyranids. What now?

Ventariis’ Trackers
by Dorevik the Deranged

The four guardians of the Hive remained steadfast in the face of Franck and Lacunae’s assault. Though Lacunae and Frack’s forces have taken light casualties, their beasts have proven fierce enough to resist the might of the Tyranids thus far.

Lacunae, seeing the power of the Hive Guards, leapt atop her scorpion-beast, Iggy the Fool, while Franck did the same to his drake Caerul. While Franck took to the skies, Lacunae charged forward along the ground. Without hesitation, the Tyranid Hiveguard focused their weapons on the two beasts and let loose a storm of spines, two firing up and two down. While the spiny barrage was underway, the dwarves rushed the Tyranids, the elves harassing them from afar in an attempt to distract them. Their distractions did little damage, and the Guards ignored them. One of the Guards turned his weapons on the dwarfs, and another on the elves... two armoured dwarfs and all of Nurri’s Dwarfen Slayers, save one, fell before the spines of the Guards.

Caerul took a pair of bone-spines in his torso, and began to drop in altitude. Iggy’s thick armour protected it from the worst of the spines… that is, until one of them sent an electrical shockwave through the beast, throwing Lacunae off of Iggy. The elf fell to the ground while Iggy continues to charge forward. As Iggy approached, the Guards focused fire on the scorpion… and a pair of shots to the vulnerable parts of the head and mouth stopped Iggy in its tracks.

Lacunae’s other beasts, the wounded Chariot and the fierce Cerberat, surged forward, and the Hiveguards turned their guns on these beasts instead, giving Franck’s beasts, alongside the remaining elves and dwarfs, a chance to approach. A series of spines impaled Cerberat, and the beast fell, while the Chariot barged ahead.

Caerul, wounded but still flying, swooped down from above, and with his electrical breath consumed one the Hiveguards in its judgment, before crashing into a second one and grappling with it. Franck got to his feet, standing before the guns of the two remaining Guards.

Fortunately for him, the cannons of his dwarfs went to work then, pummeling one of the two and driving it back, while Franck’s other beasts engaged the last one. Lacunae rushed over to Iggy and worked some Mouldering on the beast, which shuddered back to some semblance of life, though it moved sluggishly. She then rushed to Cerberat, but found the beast dead.

Caerul managed to rend its prey-guard limb from limb, and Lacunae’s elves moved in to assist Franck’s dwarfs, and managed to subdue the last badly injured hive-guard, disarming it. The last Guard fell to Xa’kota’lot, Domovoi, and the Chariot, and little remained of it but its gun.

With that done, the elves and dwarfs quickly gathered what loot they could and tended the injuries of their beasts. Iggy was very badly hurt, and Caerul was having some trouble breathing and using its muscles to their full capacity. Runbeinnir’s injuries were patched, alongside the chariot’s.

The elves and dwarfs foolishly mourned their dead, and then moved on to reunite with Korr Ventariis and the rest of the Hunters.

We left the egg chambers and headed elsewhere in the central hive. As we went, the bodies of hunters, torn to shreds by terrible foes, littered the corridors… until we came to the end of a corridor and found a titanic Tyranid beast standing before us, engaged in fierce battle with a small army of Hunters. The floor was made of corpses, both Tyranid and Hell Pitter… but mostly Hell Pitter.

The massive beast had four limbs; one held a sword, another a fleshy whip, and the other two were massive scything talons. Between it and the beasts were four large, heavily-armoured beings with scything talons. A motely collection of Hell Pit’s finest Hunting beasts lurked just out of the beast’s tremendous range… but as we watched, its whip moved of its own accord and lashed out at a foe that was too close, reducing the manticore into bite-sized chunks in a manner of seconds.

At least a dozen more Hiveguards were scattered about the room, arranged in clusters of three, and above us winged versions of the same rained down a boney death upon them. Four more floating heads lingered at the edges of the room, and at least thirty smaller, gaunt warriors fought Hunters blade and claw.

Directing beasts and shouting orders at the center of the room, surrounded on all sides by foes, were Korr Ventariis and the Huntress Morvaneth. They were surrounded by netted and caged Tyranids, and defended their prizes with incredibly strength.

Directly facing the nearby monstrosity was a Hunter sitting on a large Chimaerat, nearly two-thirds the size of the Tyranid foe, which breathed warpstone fire to hold it at bay… but little more than that.

Choices: Utter chaos awaits you… But what to do you do? Target the airborne guards? Take out the floating heads? Plunge headfirst into battle? Aid the Chimaerat and its Hunter against the biggest foe? Take out more Hiveguards? Fight your way to Korr and Morvaneth?

Starhunter Alliance, Strikeforce Alpha
by Vasqual the Stunted

The Starhunters are shrewd negotiators indeed. Victor insisted that the “lictors” we had captured were to survive… but were to be tortured and incapacitated to learn all we could, then brought back to Hell Pit.

The leader of the group nodded, but then said, “For knowledge, you need only one.” One of his subordinates immediately fired his weapon, killing one of our captives. Though angered, Victor and Tirr and Sir Bacon held their peace, and Sir Bacon immediately began his work on the surviving Lictor, storing organs away and learning all he could.

The commander of the armoured humans agreed with Victor that an armoury would be their next target, and led the group down the corridors in the direction of where they claimed there would be an armoury.

On the way to the armoury we encountered three large forces of Tyranids, and each time we were permitted to keep one type of each specimen alive for ourselves. In the process, three of the humans also fell, leaving only the leader and the strange one left. The Moulders held back, letting the Tyranids and the armoured men weaken one another. During the journey, the sound of something mechanical following us haunted my ears… I hope the others heard it too.

We trekked down many featureless corridors, until finally we stood before a pair of huge doors. In front of those doors were a dozen strange human-Tyranid hybrids… and at the center of them stood a trio of hybrids clad in the same armour as our allies, though holding strange guns.

The very sight of these three caused our allies to go into a rage, and the leader attacked the largest of the armoured beings, and engaged in fierce battle. The other hybrids all eyed us…

Choices: The way is blocked by strange human-Tyranid hybrids! One is engaged by the Marine, but two Tyranid-Marines – each with a boney sword and a fleshy gun – and seven hybrids armed with bolters and Tyranid claws – look ready to attack! And behind you, something mechanical stalks…

The League of Explorers
Team Engine by Wortik the Wretched

In the face of heresy and blasphemy, the brave Moulders of Hell Pit once more have shone their true, brilliant colours! Tekris stepped forward first, and with Gribble attempted to first speak to the wretched daemon:

"Do you scent-know a R'ttig by any chance, he pay-pays well and apparently has a thing for boat-things...whatever those are?" Tekris said. "Look, I don't have any-any great thing against the old god-thing, apart from never actually give-granting the ascension his Seers kept squeak-squeaking about non stop."

"Gribble," said Gribble.

"I understand, Gribble...but..." said Tekris.

"Grib," said Gribble, a warning note in his voice.

"Gribble want-wants me to add that R'ttig could take-take down that burning Dwarf-thing bull and the bird-thing that scent-looks a bit like an evil Saltbeak without breaking a sweat. Though do daemons actually sweat?" Tekris continued.

"I think-think plague daemons and sex daemons do," commented Brrx.

The daemon on the throne listened, and its throne began to burn. Then it laughed. “You seek to set us against one another? You do not fully grasp the situation, mortal.” The bird leaned forward. “These daemons are utterly beholden to me. I have already won.”

Without warning, the Verminlord leapt forward. Guldan shouted commands in response, while Tekris withdrew and did the same. Snorri, Morax, Peggy, and Hisskern all leapt to intercept the Verminlord, whose Doom Glaive swung in a vicious arc, nearly bisecting Morax, who crumpled to the ground. Peggy and Brrx flew from above, and the Verminlord leapt into the air, impaling Peggy before whipping her off his head onto the ground, injuring both.

As the Verminlord landed, Snorri rushed forward bravely, and engaged the Verminlord in a battle of the Warpstone blades. Unfortunately, the daemon was too powerful for Snorri, and quickly brought the dwarf to his mercy. The Verminlord stared balefully at Tekris and Gribble next… and then suddenly froze, unable to move.

The bird on the throne frowned. Tekris, confused but knowing an opportunity when he saw one, gestured Hisskern forward, and the Rat Ogre managed to quickly dispatch the Verminlord, who dissipated into smoke, leaving the Rat Ogre holding the Doom Glaive.

Meanwhile, the red bull of Hashut was met by Guldan, leading Karl and Lizardon. The bull quickly bowled over Karl, but Lizardon attacked the bull from behind as it barreled past, severing its tail. The bull breathed flames, burning Karl, but Lizardon pressed its advantage, cutting the bulls back legs off.

The bird was staring directly at them. “Yes, sacrifice one pawn so another can kill. Worthy of Tzeentch himself.”

Karl shrieked in agony and was engulfed in the bull’s flames. Lizardon quickly chopped up the rest of Hashut.

“Strong on the charge, weak on the followup,” the daemon observed then. “And for your victories… I grant you the first, primordial flesh… from which Mutae herself can be built.”

A large lump of flesh, half the size of Guldan bubbled up in the center of the arena. “And now, I take my leave… and good luck with the prisoners.”

The scene vanished before our eyes, and we found ourselves, still injured, between an Ork in mechanical armour, and our comrades Ikakku, Shifty, and Tex’Hallik!

Shortly after, we saw four other figures; a bug-Tyranid hybrid, a woman with a rifle, a man with a glowing cybernetic eye and two drones, and a man in horned armour with glowing red eyes. The woman with the rifle aimed it at Tekris and Gribble, the bug-woman hissed and leapt at Guldan shrieking at us to “bow to Mutae,” the man with the glowing eye and the drones followed the bug-woman, and the man on the horned armour raised a weapon and fired at Hisskern, hitting his shoulder! Meanwhile, the Ork Mek turned his back on Tex’Hallik, and charged towards Karl!

Choices: Weird, huh? :P How do you fight? :P Next update will combine Tex’Hallik, Shifty, Guldan, and Tekris; they are one strikeforce team now, for better or worse. :P

Team Corridor, by Zargritch Junior
What a rollercoaster this hunt is turning out to be! Savannah’s beasts turned to deal with the invisible foe, with Savannah’s Mule’s ratling guns firing willy-nilly into the darkness, filling the corridor with warpstoney death! The bullets managed to impact something, and blood-covered flesh became visible as a horrible, tentacle-faced creature stood before them. Itchy’Bigsy fired spiderweb at the formerly-invisible monster, and Savannah’s fire became even more accurate, until the beast fell, barely alive.

Gragg’Dvorak’s attention remained on the be-tentacled beast before him, and he sent Ed and Fred forward to attack it. They quickly found themselves wrapped in its tentacles… and fell to the ground, flesh burned, with mucus leaking out of their noses and the stench of decay rising from them. Itchy’Bigsy fired a net at it, entangling its tentacles, and Catchy-Snatchy and Gragg approached it carefully, staying out of the range of its tentacles. It surged forward, and Itchy threw out more webs, but it got closer… until Savannah turned about and let loose its Gatling guns! It quickly collapsed under the weight of bullets.

Ed and Fred don’t look very good, however; it seems as if that beast was very venomous! But, fortune smiles upon Mutae’s children, for across the hall lies what looks like an infirmary

But to get there we need to cross the thin herd of Tyranids… but with his comrades’ lives on the line, Gragg’Dvorak bravely leads the charge – and neatly scoops up some Tyranids on the way across – and we burst into the infirmary!

The infirmary is in tatters, with countless bodies scattered about… but in the shadows, a man steps forward. He smiles at us, and speaks.

“Children, you and I… we seek the same thing. We both serve Mutae, our coming god… we seek to perfect her form.” He gestures at the bodies on the floor, which are horribly mutated, fusions of man and Tyranid. He smiles, revealing fangs, and a pair of Tyranid claws on his back. “I can help your friends… but it comes with a cost. Leave them with me, and they will be cured of the Venomthrope’s poisons. But in exchange, I have a task for you…”

He turns around and a hologram appears in the air; a map of the ship. He points to a place not far from where they are. “Here. My rival in the cult… a man named Tyranos. He wears the armour of a Space Marine, is very large… but is a behemoth constrained. He should be here, guarding the armoury. Kill him and bring me his head… and your friends will live. He is accompanied by two similarly-armoured acolytes, and a host of mutants like the dead ones you see here. What say you?”

Behind the man, a dozen pods glow, filled with all manner of interesting mutants…

Choices: Ed and Fred can be saved by this man, provided they get the head of some Tyranos guy… or you could kill this man and take the experiments behind him. Or something else entirely! Orders are simple for you this time; Yes or No, and if Yes to his offer, what will the general attack plan on the vague description of his forces be? :)

-1 Genestealer

Team Below, by Ikkaku Madarame
The universe is a strange place. As the Ork mek-thing charged, Tex’Hallik extended his harms and shot a fireball at the greenskin, whose move forward slowed. The Tainted One then ducked behind his Saurian Warriors, while Shifty stood back with his beasts and just laughed.

Then, out of nowhere, a host of friends appeared; other members from our guild! Tekris, Guldan, and my coworker, Wortik the Wretched, warped out of thin air between Tex’Hallik, Shifty, and the Ork!

At their unexpected arrival, false Mutae and the others tensed. The woman with the rifle aimed it at Tekris and Gribble, false Mutae hissed and leapt at Guldan, the man with the glowing eye and the drones followed false Mutae, and the man on the horned armour raised a weapon and fired at Tekris’ Rat Ogre, hitting his shoulder!

Meanwhile, the Ork Mek turned his back on Tex’Hallik, and charged towards the burned, but now standing, beast known as Karl.

Choices: The Ork Mek’s back is to you! Mutae and company are attacking your allies! Shifty is giggling! What do you do? Next update will combine Tex’Hallik, Shifty, Guldan, and Tekris; they are one strikeforce team now, for better or worse. :P

Bloodhunters United
Team Cargo Hold, by Kraven Reektail

Sho-Yin and Neesha do not fail to impress! After taking down a fearsome Carnifex, they turn their sights next on the massive snaily-beast and its guards! Neesha’s beasts quickly set to work and attack the warriors and rippers, eliminating the maggoty rippers quickly, and then engage the Tyranid Warriors. The Warriors shoot swarms of steaming maggots from their weapons, and Copac Viu and Chara are forced to beat a quick retreat before them.

Meanwhile, Shinjitch and Nightmare leapt at the snail-thing, deftly avoiding its tentacles and going for the fleshy, weak head. Unfortunately, Nightmare is not quite fast enough, and finds his legs cut out from under him by the tentacles! As he falls the tentacles continue to lash, and Skidditch rushes in fearlessly and drags Nightmare out of harm’s way. Shinjitch continues his assault however, and lands on the snail’s head, and stabs deep into it. The snail writhes and its tentacles toss Shinjitch off, slamming him into Sho-Yin and knocking the two of them back.

Meanwhile, Neesha heals Pride, who gets back to his feet, and immediately in a rage leaps at a Warrior, avoiding its maggoty gun and ripping out its throat. The other two warriors descend on Pride, and Neesha forces her beasts back into the fray, and using teamwork they take out the other two, though Chara comes out looking very beaten.

Only the snail-beast remains, bleeding from its head. It lashes out a few times, and then curls up, vanishing into a thick, seemingly impenetrable shell… Neesha and Sho-Yin suspect it is healing inside.

There are lots of bits of metal lying around, and the corpses of its fallen brethren… but how do they defeat the snail-beast, before its still-living brothers come?

Losses:
-Nightmare is Very badly injured and Legless
-Chara is very badly injured
-Shinjitch is lightly injured
-Copac Viu is lightly injured

Choices: The snail is all curled up! How do you crack a nut, and defeat what comes out?

Team Stairs, by Coach Vosnaardiskikk
Cornered by the three beasts, our brave heroes turned about and launched a swift counterattack! The floating head continued to shriek, but the fire of Sinclaw’s ratling guns silenced it quickly, and his beasts Pumpkin and Beartooth quickly charged forward. Meanwhile, Kretchitt healed Desolas, getting the beast back on its feet, and then ordered his other beasts to back up Sinclaw!

Pumpkin took a load of acid to the chest, and his charge slowed, but Beartooth surged forward and pushed past the psychic screams, swiping down the floating head with ease! Kretchitt’s beasts quickly dispatched the acid-rifle armed beast, ripping it to shreds, and then the remaining beasts all turned their attention to the beast with the maw in its chest. It fought fiercely, wounding the crab-like Tamatoa and Beartooth, but ultimately it was restrained by chains and things-catchers; an intact prize!

Then we waited, Kretchitt and Sinclaw tending to their beasts wounds as much as they could, watching the battle in the next room from the shadows. At one point, Sinclaw tipped the odds by tossing a vile towards a nearby armoured man… who proceeded to collapse. Sinclaw and Kretchitt dragged the body away, and no one noticed in the chaos…

…until the battle was over. A single marine remained standing, and he turned to face us…

…and then, from above, a small beast dropped on his head, ripped off his helmet, and dug its claws into his face. The man shrieked as his flesh began to bubble, and his face became like that of the other Tyranids. The thing jumped off then and hissed at us, and a large humanoid Tyranid stepped from the shadows, with four arms; two lower ones with bone-scythes, and the two upper with vicious, red-tinged claws. The marine-turned Tyranid twitched, and then its eyes fell on us.

Uh-oh.

Choices: Tyranid Space Marine! :P And a genestealer, and another beast stands behind the Space Marine. The Space Marine has a chainsword and pistol, but an exposed head now. It looks somewhat sad, as well as hungry. :P What do you do? :P

Ventariis’ Trackers
by Apprentice Reporter Hidan Kakuzu

Terrible news and treachery! Korr and Dorevik are dead! I, apprentice reporter Hidan Kakuzu, was accompanying Korr Ventariis alongside my mentor, when my eagle-eyed eyes spotted a most terrible thing! Lacunae the elf, doubtless getting vengeance on Dorevik’s heart-felt words printed in the Monthly some weeks ago, did something to him that caused the esteemed Dorevik the Deranged to vanish into a void of inky blackness!

Lacunae and Franck’s forces, most welcomed when they first arrived in the chaotic mess of the hive chamber, are now being met with suspicion by Korr Ventariis and Morvaneth. As the two of them fought their way to the center of the room, where the leaders of the Hunter Caste direct the assault on the leaders of the Tyranid Hive.

They reached us quickly, and Korr and Morvaneth added them to the fight. Franck commanded Grogg Thundersmith, under his command and riding his elephant, to hammer what he called a “Rune of Psylence.” Moments later, everything changed, as the swarms of lowly Tyranids went berserk, killing each other as often as our Hunters! Our Hunters withdrew, and the Tyranids fell on each other, grunt killing Guard and Guard killing grunt. The floating “Zoanthrope” heads all fell down to the ground, where our Hunters swooped in and captured them with ease.

Most of the battle was over quickly, and reports via mini-farsqueaker indicate that at that moment, the tide began to turn elsewhere, as many Tyranid beastly foes turned on each other! The exceptions seemed to be the Tyranid-man-thing hybrids, which only faltered for a few moments when the Rune was struck.

But in the heat of celebration, we failed to notice that one beast had not fallen. The fearsome Ceberat’s heads flew through the air, landing all around us, as the Hive Tyrant’s whip carved it into chunks. The thing moved with an almost impossible speed, cutting down our Hunters and their beasts amid screams of horrible pain and fear.

It headed directly for Grogg Thundersmith and its rune; it is much more intelligent than the others, it seems… but that says little. As it approached, Hunters let loose a barrage of missile fire, but the thing nimbly dodged them all. Cannonfire assailed it, but it hardly noticed, and soon it was almost on top of us! I confess that the musk of fear almost left me, and Lacunae uttered her false prayers to Mutae; then black smoke briefly flashed before the Tyrant, thrown by an elf I think, and it stumbled! It looked dazed for several moments, and we wasted no time in attacking the beast!

And then, I witnessed it; Lacunae rushed over to where Dorevik was, and as everyone was focused on the beast, shoved something down his throat, then fled… and Dorevik, as well as the retinue of Hunters standing nearby, watching the Hive Tyrant like us, all were sucked into a black, swirling void right before my eyes! I called this to Korr and Morvaneth’s attention, that it seemed we have a traitor in our midst…

…just as another squadron of Elves and Living Trees, members of Lacunae’s Twilight Guardians no doubt, showed up on the battlefield. Korr’s face twisted with fury, and time froze.

…and then the unthinkable happened again. Twice. The Hive Tyrant spoke, using slow Queekish. “Fools. The Hivemind. Has. No. Nightmares. It. Is. Nightmare.”

And then there were two Hive Tyrants, standing one right next to the other, as the black smoke around it took solid form. A whip lashed out then…

…and Korr Ventariis’ head flew from his body, just as the teams from the Bloodhunters United arrived, standing next to Lacunae’s Twilight Guardians. Korr’s head landed on the floor and his body crumpled, and just like the Tyranids fell to fighting among themselves, so did Hell Pit.

Korr’s loyal Hunters, confused by Lacunae’s actions, rightfully concluded that Lacunae had doubled the Tyrants, and began to assault Lacunae’s Twilight Guardians! Morvaneth tried to stop the attacks, but a Skaven and one of Korr’s right hands, Malkior the Silent, silenced her quickly, hissing in her ear that she was just as bad as Lacunae. The Hive Tyrants Began to lay waste to the infighting Hunters, all sense of unity and cohesion broken. One menaced the Hunters around where Franck, Morvaneth’s unconscious body, Malkior the Silent (who seems to have assumed control), while the other, breathing out faint clouds of black smoke, charged Lacunae’s reinforcements and the Bloodhunters standing at the entrance. Malkior, name aside, shouted at Lacunae’s elves to charge the Hive Tyrant, and gave the command to the Bloodhunters to not trust Lacunae’s reinforcements, for they might be traitors!

The Hivemind menacing Grogg’s forces spat something at Grogg, and causing his body to steam and his rune to melt. He shrieked in pain, but fortunately there were no other Tyranids left to reawaken, as those elsewhere on the ship began to do.

Choices: Well, that went well. Two Hive Tyrants face you now, uninjured, and doing lots of damage. One faces the Bloodhunters and elven and tree reinforcements, and the other faces down the shattered remnants of the Hunters, led by Malkior, alongside Franck and Lacunae’s forces.

Starhunter Alliance, Strikeforce Alpha
by Vasqual the Stunted

The brave heroes of Hell Pit’s Starhunter Alliance wasted no time at all in leaping into the fray, following the lead of the deranged Space Marine leader! Half of Tirr’’s WMDs, temporarily directed by Victor, charge into the fray, and immediately meet the grunt, “normal” Tyranid hybrids in combat; mostly the Skaven and greenskin units, it looks like, while the humanoid unit hangs back and the beast-things drop back to investigate whatever has been following us. The other two heavily-armoured Tyranid Marines are immediately engaged by an assortment of beasts; Victor directed Edmund MKI and Sir Bacon’s Tuber Squigbeasts, tied together with a length of chain, against one, while Victor’s Packmaster Kharakov leads Edmund MKII against the other, joined by Tirr leading his beasts Apophis and Proto-Alpha.

Victor hangs back briefly and speaks to the strange human, asking if he knows what follows. He smiled and nodded. Suspicious but needing to jump into battle, Victor returned the nod and followed behind his beasts, being the very model of a Moulder and an Inquisira- man!

Tirr and Kharakov quickly overwhelmed one of the marines, and then went to aid Victor and Sir Bacon and their beasts in overpowering the second. The second Marine fell, but only after quite a fight, and handy chain-tripping and tying work done by Bacon’s Tubers.

The struggle against the normal Tyranid hybrids did not go as well as we would have liked. The Skaven seem to have run as the fighting got hard, and the greenskins suffered heavy casualties as well. The humans rushed in to aid the others, and eventually put down the last of the hybrids at great cost…

…only to find that the other Tyranid Marine, the biggest one, had slain our normal Marine ally and has turned his attention to our beasts! He moved like lightning, quickly incapacitating Proto-Alpha and both Edmunds, and giving Apophis a nasty scar, his strange boney flesh-gun functioning as both a gun and a blade. His helmet had been torn off, revealing an almost draconian face, with a trio of long, whip-like barbed tongues and massive fangs.

Everyone drew back as he carved a path through the WMDers… and then our weird marine ally stepped forward, laughing. He cursed at the hybrid, and clapped his hands. A small force of half a dozen cyborg humans lurch forward, lock their eyes on the Tyranid Marine, and charge forward. The weird Marine watches for a moment, then turns to Sir Bacon, busy experimenting in the back with the looted materials.

“Filthy xenos!” the man hisses, pointing at the items Sir Bacon is using. A massive surge of lightning shoots out from the materials, burning Sir Bacon rather badly and filling the air with the scent of bacon! The two suits of broken power armour we have been dragging behind us suddenly stand up on their own. Sir Bacon flees to be with the others, while our ally directs the two suits to attack our brave Moulders!

And then, to make matters worse… a strange man appears around the corner calling for a “Tyranos,” followed by a small group of Moulders in another nearby doorway – Tex’Hallik, Tekris, and Guldan – and a motley collection of characters, including a sniper, chaos marine, some sort of tech-wizard with drones, and a terrifying Tyranid-human woman screaming that she is Mutae! The false Mutae shrieks that the man next to her is, in fact, someone called “Viktor” – causing our Victor to look up – and that the big hybrid Marine is someone named “Tyranos” – and commands our Moulders and her followers to kill them both! Immediately, her non-Moulder followers rush to engage Tyranos, shooting at him from afar as he holds off the strange cyborg-humans… and the Moulders don’t look like they know what to do…

Choices: Quite chaotic! One Tyranid-Marine – Tyranos – is incredibly strong, and maimed several beasts and is now fighting six cyborgs commanded by the weird Marine ex-ally… who is also directing two reanimated suits of broken power armour and having them attack your beasts! Meanwhile, Tex, Tekris, Guldan and the gang, led by the false Mutae, have shown up, and Mutae’s followers are also trying to kill Tyranos. And there is another human there trying to get Tyranos’ attention for some reason…

Also, this means that the Explorers’ Team Engine and Team Below have joined you in this room!

The League of Explorers
Team Corridor, by Zargritch Junior
The man with the mutants in stasis behind him engaged in a brief talk with Gragg’Dvorak and Savannah. Gragg’Dvorak was quick to accept the man’s offer, while Savannah held her ground – despite Gragg’Dvorak’s death glares – and demanded something of her own. Eventually, the man relented, and patched up Mule as “a sign of our future working relationship” – before giving Savannah and Gragg each a strange gun made of bone that he called “Infectonators,” though he was vague about what they actually accomplished.

Satisfied, they turned to look at the map, only to find that the device displaying it had failed. Grumbling, the man shooed the Moulders out of the room and locked the door behind him, and led them near the fighting itself. After a brief discussion, it was decided that the man would be the bait for a trap that they were going to set…

…and so, while Gragg’Dvorak’s beasts set up webbing and an ambush around the corner or a corridor (while Savannah trained Mule’s guns on the spot where the prey would be immobilized), their strange benefactor walked around the corner, while Gragg’Dvorak and Savannah waited for their prey…

Choices: Keep waiting with your trap, or, given that you can hear the utter chaos going on in the room, abandon the trap and leap into the fray? :P

Team Below & Team Engine, by Ikkaku Madarame & Wortik the Wretched

Action and flight!

In the face of the mounting chaos and hostility, it looks like Shifty Goldgrabb and his entourage have lived up to Shifty’s name, and have fled the scene, after managing to make off with a few more cryostasis pods! The rat-bastard; or rather, the greenskin bastard!

While Shifty fled the scene, Tex’Hallik stepped forward, casting an enormous fireball at the Ork Mek as it lunged towards Guldan and Karl. This time, the fireball took, and the Ork’s green skin began to burn, slowing his charge and causing him to turn back towards the Saureans. This gave Guldan’s fierce beast Lizardon an opening, and it slammed into the Mek from the side and bowled him over.

Karl and Guldan’s other beasts quickly immobilized the Ork Mek – and by immobilized, I of course mean killed – while Guldan and Tekris, soon joined by Tex’Hallik, immediately tried to defuse the situation with the false “Mutae.” Tekris called them friends, while Gribble called them Gribs. The group talked for several tense moments, and it became apparent that they all had different ideas about how to negotiate a ceasefire: Tekris addressed Mutae directly, while Guldan ignored the deranged man-thing and instead talked to the sniper. The two-pronged negotiation strategy ended up working – alongside Tekris’ offer to Mutae of a sandwich – and the false “Mutae” explained to us that she was the “god” of this hulk, and that she commanded the Tyranid-human hybrids on board the ship… or at least she had, until two men named “Tyranos” and “Viktor” seized power from her and began squabbling over control of her “genestealer cult.” The cult was in the midst of civil war when glorious Hell Pit intervened, and we had the misfortune to run into Mutae and her only loyal followers.

In order to not waste time and acquire more beasts, the Moulders agreed to help Mutae reclaim control of her cult, in exchange for their lives. She said she knew the way to where Tyranos was waiting, and after letting us loot the room, led us all there, scuttling along endless corridors.

We all eventually arrived in front of a large door, where we found a fierce melee going on between heavily-armoured Tyranid hybrids Mutae called “Tyranos’ Lackies,” and our own Moulders Victor, Tirr, and Sir Bacon (not to mention some hulking “Space Marine” who seemed to be working for them)!

And then, by our side, appeared a strange, flimsy-looking man, that the false “Mutae” said was Viktor! She ordered hew new “followers” – as if loyal Hell Pit Moulders would follow a false god! – to kill Viktor and Tyranos, though Gragg’Dvorak and Savannah look like they won’t give Viktor up without a fight…

Choices: Do you aid in the battle against Tyranos? Do you go after Viktor? Something else? You are now part of the same battle as the Starhunter Alliance, though your leaders still distribute points as normal.

Bloodhunters United
Team Cargo Hold, by Kraven Reektail

With a break in the fighting, Neesha and Sho-Yin patch up their beasts while Pride sets himself to attacking the Tyranid snail-thing. The plantlion makes no attempt to break open the shell, and instead goes right for the tiny opening that it retreated into, keeping it sealed up and inside – with Copac Viu whacking it hard whenever it tries to snake its way out - while Neesha’s forces bind and wrap up the snail, Sho-Yin drawing Pride back in time for Neesha’s hunters to seal up the shell entirely, bringing the beast entirely under their control. No need to fight the beast when one can capture it and break it later! What clever Moulders! Neesha and Sho-Yin have certainly brought in an impressive haul!

While they secure the snaily beast, Neesha sends Chara to scout a way out of the thinning swarm… but a messenger reaches them first, from Korr Ventariis himself, ordering the pair of them to immediately report to the “Hive-Chamber.” Brief instructions are included with the message, and we all set out after a final first-aid check.

We arrived to a scene of utter chaos.

Team Stairs, by Coach Vosnaardiskikk

Facing three fearsome foes, our brave heroes waste no time in charging forward! Kretchitt spends a moment healing Tamatoa, and then himself picks up a fallen weapon from one of the Marines, and opens fire on the Tyranid Marine’s exposed head! The bolter’s projectile breaks open the Marine’s jaw, and Desolas and Mangler’s vomiting attacks quickly melt and destroy the marine’s newly-formed head. The Tyranid marine collapses as Sinclaw’s forces rush behind him and begin engaging in combat with the other two creatures: the small four-armed beast I think is called a “Genestealer,” and the other one, which looks like a larger version of the Genestealer with one pair of claws replaces by scything talons.

Beartooth attacks the Genestealer, which claws and bites at the beast relentlessly… causing strange growths to appear on the beast, including what look like Tyranid claws and… an extra bug-like head? Sinclaw himself leaps into the fray then, and dispatches the Genestealer neatly, incapacitating it with a series of shots and a neatly-timed net.

But while their attention was diverted, the large beast has leapt forward, over Sinclaw’s beasts, claws nearly slashing through Desolas, who collapses. Kretchitt rushes to his beasts side while Mangler, Tamatoa, and Sinclaw’s beasts all mob the beast, who fights with a strange intelligence – and nasty slashes – and does extensive damage to Mangler and Pumpkin before going down himself, restrained and incapitated.

As the Moulders tend to their beasts, a messenger arrives from one of the other Hunter groups, looking harried. He delivers a message to the group, telling them to meet Korr’s main group at the “Hive Chamber.” Rudimentary instructions are included, and the pair of them make their way to the Hive… and find their fellow guildmates, as well as bloody carnage and mayhem, awaiting them.

Choices: See Ventariis’ Elite Trackers’ Fight. You will now be part of this group for the update, though points are still distributed by your leader as normal.

The Tasks Before You All
As a heads-up, there will likely be two more Hunt rounds, barring any unforeseen player actions: the next round will be a full normal round, while the last will be a winding-down round that has less to do with acquiring loot and more to do with you all ultimately determining how the Hulk Hunt ends up affecting Hell Pit… so keep that in mind in your orders. :)

By the end of Turn 29’s Orders Phase, please submit your third set of Hunt Orders as a PM to Events (clearly labeled with the Turn Number in the title), detailing how you will handle the situations presented to your strikeforce. Use any format you want, but if you can’t come up with one, here is a rough template you can submit to Events:

Charatter and Beast Strategies:
Follower and Minion Strategy:
Reactions to Unexpected Events:

Leaders, also by the end of the Orders phase, distribute your five points in your Orders PM between striketeams. Good luck!

And you all still might find this page helpful. ;)

Battling the Tyrant
Featuring Lacunae, Franck, Sinclaw, Kretchitt, Neesha, and Sho-Yin

After the horrifying events of my last report, the only direction left to go was up! Now facing two of the terrible Hive Tyrants, our brave collection of Hunters, combined with the questionable collection of elves under Lacunae’s command and our new reinforcements, immediately leapt in to action!

As Malkior gathered the troops – with mixed success – the dwarf Franck leapt upon his mighty dragon Caerul, and spoke the following words: “Blasted elves and their fickleness! We cannot waste time on them! Let them prove their loyalty now by leading the charge, and face our judgement later! Now, we must unite as one force! For today we either fight together, or die together! Me and my dwarves are prepared to sacrifice everything for the glory of Mutae!"

"Are you with me?!”

His words had great effect, and the Hunters rallied around Caerul – earning Franck a withering look from Malkior, and leapt into action! Doubtless goaded on by Franck’s words, Lacunae did something that resulted in massive, root-like tendrils erupting from the ground, stopping one of the Tyrants in its tracks. The remaining Hunters all surrounded the beast, and Franck commanded Grogg to strike a “Rune of Destruction.” Grogg obeyed, and lightning tore apart the air, striking the Tyrant’s head repeatedly. Combined with a cannon barrage, this rendered the Tyrant vulnerable to Caerul’s swooping attack, allowing Hunters to charge straight in. The Tyrant’s whip tore through many Hunters, but in the end, Caerul’s barrage and Lacunae’s immobilization, combined with the quick work of Malkior’s Hunters, mutilated and incapacitated the Tyrant, which Malkior has claimed for the HellCouncil.

At the other end of the chamber, Sinclaw Darklurker ordered his beasts to tire at the second Tyrant’s legs from afar. His shots were remarkably effective, topping the creature over, creating an opening for Sho-Yin’s assassin, Shinjich to rush in. The Tyrant’s sentient whip lashes out, but Shinjich manages to dodge it, and slices up the whip, and removes two of the Tyrant’s arms. While Neesha hangs back and heals hers and Sho-Yin’s beasts, Kretchitt stitches Desolas back together and takes to the skies with it, harassing the downed Tyrant from the skies. Lacunae’s elven reinforcements, combined with Caerul and Grogg, quickly aid in subduing the downed Tyrant.

As the dust from the battle settles, the elves, dwarfs, Skaven, and others eye each other with great suspicion, before preparing the Tyranid conquests for transportation back to Hell Pit.

Choices: For you all, the Hunt is over! At some point soonish, you will all gain the opportunity to divide up your loot amongst yourselves, pending some RL deadlines being put behind us.

The Genestealer Cult Civil War
Featuring Tirr, Victor, Sir Bacon, Gragg’Dvorak, Savannah, Guldan, Tekris

Hell Pit’s finest leap into action, uncoordinated and glorious! Tekris and Tex’Hallik, probably wisely, hold back from the conflict, though Tekris whispers something in the ear of Mutae’s allied Horned Marine, who immediately rushes forward to attack the strange Marine who was once Strikeforce Alpha’s ally.

Savannah, meanwhile, bursts out from behind a corner, and opens fire with her Ratling gun on Tyranos. The gun tears through the robotic servitors Tyranos is fighting, and creates some dents in Tyranos’ armour.

Guldan sent his beasts immediately to attack the false Mutae’s cohorts, incapacitating all of them save the false Mutae herself. Tirr himself approached the false Mutae, blasphemously offering obeisance… but it turned out to be a ruse! Tirr moved like a blur – and so did the false Mutae! The pair of them engaged in quick combat, and the false Mutae would have quickly overpowered Tirr, had not Guldan’s beasts, having eliminated her bodyguard, rushed in to the fray. Against overwhelming and superior odds, Tirr’s blade finally struck true, slicing the false Mutae’s head neatly off… though the head continued to scream out that she was his god and should obey him!

Meanwhile, Victor and Kharakov did their best to hold out against their former ally and his reanimated armour, but struggled greatly in doing so. Having taken care of the false Mutae, Tirr began directing his legions of Hunters to retreat, falling back to the bridge. The false Mutae’s sole surviving companion, the Horned Space Marine, engaged in a fierce melee with Victor’s former ally, and together the three of them took out the man, Victor delivering the final blow. When he fell, so did the animated suits of armour, and the sole surviving cyborg fighting Tyranos.

Gragg’Dvorak, lurking in the shadows, sent back the other strange man with him to cure his beasts, Ed and Fred, which he did gladly. Then, carefully, with only Tyranos left, Gragg’Dvorak sprang his trap, encasing the Marine in a sticky web. Seeing the Tyranid Marine so helpless, all of the Moulders remaining rushed in and made sure he stayed out of commission.

As a cured Ed and Fred rejoined the group – no sign of the man from before – everyone turned to face the sealed door to the Armoury. Of course, by this point, Tirr, Victor, and Sir Bacon – along with WMD – had left already, returning back to the Bridge.

After some bickering about how to open the door, Savannah went with the old tried-and-true method: blasting all of the keypads with a Gatling gun. To everyratty’s surprise, it worked, and the doors to the armoury opened…

…revealing that the majority of it had already been looted! Some fiend had burrowed through from the other side! Still, there were some items left over…

The tolling of bells rings through the ship, signifying the end of the Hunt! We have been ordered to withdraw!

Glory to Mutae!

Congratulations on your survival! ^_^
