OHSAS or occupational health and safety advisory services, is a pioneer in creating safe and healthy work environment. It provides employers various strategies to adopt towards safety. It also provides employers with an entire range of services including consultation on occupational health, health and safety, occupational hygiene, counselling and psychology. It is intended to help organisations to control occupational health and safety issues. ohsas 18000 is an international health and safety management system specification. It comprises of two parts – 18001 and 18002. OHSAS 18001 was developed in response to large demand for the need of a recognised standard. OHSAS helps in a variety of respects, it helps to minimise risks to employees. It offers an entire range of services, these are health and safety training, health and safety assessment support, violence and aggression management as well as occupational hygiene. Occupational hygiene is important in work place and in organisations. Piling of waste and debris or accumulation of dust is not healthy and it should not occur in any workplace. Piling of waste and rotting food materials is common in restaurants, hotels and even in airports. There should be a cleaning section with supervisors who identify debris and sends out instruction to cleaners to remove the waste immediately. Accumulation of waste and rot can cause various kinds of serious diseases and it is a biological health hazard. Piling of waste causes rot after several hours and it causes epidemics. There are also health and safety training and awareness for managers.
