:hello1: I think this must be a Common Blue (Polymattus icarus) even though the ocelli group on the underside of the forewing seem to form more of a half circle than one would expect and that there are one or two oddly-shaped ocelli. Since I can't find anything else to match it has to be P. icarus - or has it?

:hello1: Chris

It is indeed Common Blue and you can just see the cell spot on the upper hindwing.

I've managed to photograph a Clouded Yellow but I don't know if it is C.hyale or C.alfacariensis. Is it possible to ID this one, please, Dave?

Not possible i'm afraid Chris from the image alone.

It can be done sometimes from upper forewing images but again it can be very tricky. The only 100% way of telling is to find the larvae on the larval foodplant. Both caterpillars are completely different and i would suggest it is the only reliable method.Even gen.det can prove inconclusive.

OK, Dave, I'm not altogether surprised. Another Colias sp. anyway! ;)

Colias sp is all you can hope for sometimes Chris and i know how frustrating it can be knowing that there is every possibility that you could well be staring at a new species.
