it was quite hard to get a pic as it blended in with the fence im really pleased its a Moth as i dont get to see them really.I would love to get more photos as you can see i dont know my Moths from my Butterflies for the ID David

Great capture Jan I got a photo of that one as well it's a pyralid moth called Udea lutealis and can be seen in rough grassy areas also it can occasionally come to light.

That ragwort on the way back from the walk was full of Nettle tap moths as well,a tiny micro moth which is easily overlooked and difficult to photo. |

Great photo Carl ![]() Thats a Large Skipper and you can usually tell it apart from Small Skipper by the more prominent black markings (sex brands) on the forewings. |

Your first one Davy is as you say Small Skipper and the second image is of a Large Skipper...you can just about make out the diagnostic sex brand on the forewing and you are spot on when you mention the antennae as on Large skipper the tips are slightly hooked and is a diagnostic point when separating Small from Large skipper. |
