is this a cabbage white? both pics are of the same insect, he got very daring while I was taking these I got that close he climbed onto my lens :girlygiggle:

That's good to hear Linda. This species is currently in it's first spring emergence which would account for the numbers :cool2:

Dave - I think Eddie's is also a female of the species. :cool3: I saw this one at the weekend - a first generation male Green-veined White (dosn't have the spots on the forewing) - confusing little devils arn't they.

I am fairly sure this is a female, fairly worn, Common Blue but I don't remember seeing this blue version before.
