Thanks everyone - am well chuffed as it is a 'first' for me. It was the best shot I could get as the plant was swaying violently in the wind. Just noticed on the spotting challenge it's a 15-pointer too so even better!!!

Came across this butterfly during a BioBlitz yesterday. Is it a meadow brown or a small heath or something else?

Nice shots Eddie.

The White's are both Small White.

I think i can make out hooked antennae on the skipper so this will make it Large Skipper.

Hi Jen.

The last two are both Speckled Wood.

The first one is either a Hairstreak sp or one of the 'tailed blues' I'm not overly familiar with Canadian butterflies but i do have a site bookmarked.

Ooh, I've just been googling Canadian Hairstreaks, they have loads. Perhaps Hickory or Banded Hairstreak?
