A few shots I managed to get today. Most of the time they were in the dark in thick undergrowth - thank goodness for photoshop!

Fantastic shots peppiB.

My daughter keeps on singing the praises of photoshop, I'll definitely have to find out more about that.

:Hi: PeppiB

Good photos, it seems they were being a bit shy today. I think the branches give the pics an air of mystery. You can see them but you have to look carefully!
Well done.

I think this may be a red kite. It was on a wall, but by the time I parked the car and grabbed the camera it was soaring high. If I am wrong, I stand corrected.

Great photo peppiB....definately a red kite, main diagnostic id features are the distinctine forked tail, tends to less pronounced on a black kite and red kite has a paler head and more overall reddish brown body.

Must get myself a longer lens for occasions like this. It was sitting on a wall about 10 feet from the car, but by the time I had stopped and got hold of camera it must have been 200 feet up. Have another couple showing the outline, but I thought it was a red kite the instant I saw it (it was red for one thing!!)

Goldeneye - it was between Alston and Hexham - about 6 miles from Hexham.

:wow: what a fantastic photo peppiB, well done for getting those photos.
I've never seen a red kite at all, except on the TV, or in photos etc.
