Hi PeppiB, just wondered where this was you shot the heron, one flew over me today at the wildfowl but I wasn't quick enough to capture it. |

Sue - the Heron and kingfisher were just outside Durham at Croxdale. Had a brilliant view of the kingfisher through the scope - but didn't have the camera attached at the time. By the time Rach ran back to the car to bring the attachment for a camera (this pillock left it in the boot of the car) it had moved and was fishing. Great to watch through the binocs, but impossible to catch through the scope. It seemed like a Mr & Mrs heron- 1 was in the river, the second appeared - they circled together then the first one flew off possibly to a nest whilst the second one settled on the opposite bank of the river.

Fantastic photos PeppiB. That new "toy" as you call it is fantastic. I can see you having a lot of fun with that this summer. The closeups of the Heron are stunning. It's nice to see it in it's natural habitat instead of my garden. It must have been wonderful to watch the Kingfisher. It's years since I've seen one of those, the colour is breathtaking. Thanks for posting them, I'm looking forward to seeing more of your photos with you using that digiscope.

For some reason I seem to missed this thread for a while, so I've been catching up. Some brilliant photos PeppiB. I love how you described the Pheasant Jan. It looks looks as if it feels it's been caught in the act, and almost has the expression as if it's saying ..'do you mind'....OK I've lost the plot a bit. Love the photo of the Swallow PeppiB, and it's nice to see Cath and Rachael as well. |
