:( :( this new lens is really disappointing. A couple from yesterday - they are not sharp but because of the distance between subject and camera and me having to severely crop. The camera was on a tripod so these should have been pin sharp. The white birds are Egrets btw (apart from the swan taking off!)

Dave - it is a genuine Nikkor 70 - 300. It should have been much crisper and clearer than the Sigma I sold when I bought this one. There are several 70 - 300 lenses for Nikons on ebay at the moment so may buy one of those. This one just doesn't produce acceptable results.

Some good photos there PeppiB. Is this the lens you posted a photo of a little while ago? I seem to remember it was huge. It is a shame it is not living up to expectations.

:thanks: for posting

Tabatha - that photo was of my digiscope which is great for viewing but not for photos.

Ooops. Sorry about that. I don't really know much about lenses. Hope you find something more effective.

Not the best of days for photography there, very cold, dark and overcast :( Birds which had been showing well all week (according to a forum I use) decided to go to the furthest reaches, so I must apologise that some of these are not the usual standard, but are blown up so far it is a wonder they haven't pixilated!

This weasel gave a very fleeting glimpse, and this is through a window from a great distance

Lovely photos PeppiB, I loved the one with the heron as well.

Glad you had a nice day out, albeit a bit darker and cooler than you would have liked.

Thanks for sharing them with us.

Fantastic pics PeppiB. You captured the mood of the day brilliantly as they are very emotive - I could almost feel the cold just looking at them. Lots of favourites but my admiration really goes to you for the darter / dragonfly (sorry, I never know which is which) as I fail miserably to get them in focus. So well done you :clap2:

Some great images there PeppiB, I love the photo of the grey heron, and the ducks in a line.

You still managed to get some good photos today, even if you did have to edit them.

:thanks: for posting
