Just realised i didn't label the birds

Winter plumages redshank, black headed gull, black tailed godwit (looks like a snipe, but its bill bends slightly upwards) and the 2 duck snorkelling are male teal

Much maligned outpost of the empire, and also home to Saltholme RSPB reserve this 'area' of coast usually attracts exciting bird species ........ but sadly not today :(

The seafront at Seaton Carew - really glum day. The guy on the beach is gathering sea coal which is still washed ashore by the skip load. Several large wagons operate the beach gathering the stuff

From a distance thought this was red throated diver which inhabits the harbour, but as you see it is Mrs red breasted merganser

Was assured a med gull inhabited this lamp post - but this one is remarkably disguised as a black headed gull!!

A few from the beach

Think the 'Fieldfare' may well be a reed bunting. There are reeds a few yards away where the water rail was hiding :(

Looks more like a reed bunting in my birdbook and nothing like a fieldfare! :giggle: I think you are spot on with the second guess :cool1:

:wow2: cracking set of photos PeppiB :clap3:

Beautiful landscape in your first photo and love the shots of the Turnstone.

It could be a Med Gull but i can't quite see the black ring halfway up the bill to be sure but you can make out the black tips on the tail feathers which would indicate Black headed gull (Med gull has all white tips) and defintely a Reed bunting in the last two images.

I will look further at the gull :cool2:
