Not sure on the id of your wader.It certainly looks like a Curlew but not if it is the size of a snipe.

It is a curlew Dave - they do vary in size apparently (according to Birds of Britain & Europe - Heinzel,Fitter & Parslow) Possibly spent too much time in the river and shrunk!!

Allegedly there are herring, common, meditterranean, icelandic and a glaucus in that lot!

:clap: Just had a great catch up. Like the images of the kingfisher. Some great sightings, shame you didn't see the rare gull.

It's nice to know the sea isn't as polluted now, I was trying to picture it glowing amber.

Hope you found the fresh air bracing, even if it was a bit on the cold side.

Plenty of species about and i would love to have spent time looking out for those various gulls....most birders can't be bothered to go through flocks of larids like that but you never know what you might turn up!
