FYH - I lived on the edge of Mansfield overlooking a resevoir I have forgotten the name of. My office at the factory was on top of a culvert carrying a river (sorry, can't remember the name of that either) but it formed the border of 2 counties so half my office was in Derbyshire and half in Nottinghamshire. Son was born in Kingsmill (I think - or is that bread?) hospital- can't remember whether that was Sutton or Kirby in Ashfield. It has been a long time!
Still quite a way away from me then

Beautiful kittiwake photos.......such pretty seagulls

Laurie - the footpaths are pressure hosed every 2 days. The smell is something else! Red listed species so worth it

Thank you for the compliment. Old hands are a bit shaky to get a sharp image nowadays

Drove to Barnard Castle this morning and took these as a reminder for Eric of his youth

It was good to see that the shop front of David Harper has been toned down to fit in with the area

Thank you Peppi for taking those photos for me, every single one of them is familiar, nothing changes. Actually one area has. When I was very young, Bridgegate running parallel to the river had very old houses either side, The north side houses were actually built against the rockface underneath the castle walls they were dreadful slums and my parents discouraged me from going along there. They were all demolished. Of course these days there would have been an outcry and some expensive preservation and modernisation scheme would be put in place, I imagine. David Harper's shop is a bit after my time:o)
Now I must really go to bed. Goodnight.

Not much along the quay at the moment - still awaiting the return of the winter visitors - only a couple of curlew back at the moment.

Just the usual black headed gulls and lesser black backed

It has just dawned on me that the Cormorants have disappeared. None at all around now. Odd, but the fishermen will be pleased
