Thank you all.

Eric - those leaves are now in heaps on the ground following the gales on Monday

Here the Tyne looks more like an ocean than a river.

Wind too strong to wear a hat so had to use the hood on my coat to keep the chrome dome warm!

That's a great photo in the sunshine but it does look a bit chilly.

It's great to see you getting out peppiB and taking photographs of your lovely city.

The river surface does look a tad choppy giving the impression, as you so rightly say, that of an ocean.

I only too well remember the cold north and wouldn't like to go back to it again :brr2:

Thank you all. It not only looks chilly, it is (relatively) perishing cold. My wheelchair blanket and gloves will be in use soon.

Laurie - your thinner southern blood would soon thicken again if you moved north! All the recent photos are from my phone, which is always with me, just sometimes nothing different or inspiring comes into vision. I just couldn't afford to live in the warmer south

I'm still acclimatising to being back down South. Blimey it's so mild. I'm not complaining though! :)

:greatpic: Is that the day when there was an extra high tide?

Tabatha - that was just a normal tide taken in the gales on Monday 2nd October. It gets much higher on 'Spring Tides'

After the weird sky colour this afternoon, the sun came out again. Gale forecast, but river flat calm

Thanks all. River certainly not like hat this morning - howling gale making it look like an ocean again

The bridges BTW - first photo King Edward VII, main rail line south, Blue bridge is Metro crossing
Second photo - High Level Bridge (built by Robert Stephenson. Rail on top, road traffic underneath. After restoration not long ago the top deck was restricted to local trains, although main line trains use it very occasionally, and the roadway on the lower deck has been narrowed and now carries only southbound buses and taxis. Then there is the Swing Bridge, built by Armstrong so it would swing open to let his armament ships pass, then of course the Tyne Bridge. You can't quite see the Millennium Bridge beyond that. Photos are taken looking downstream.
