Wonderful photos, Dave and Julie! My son and his girlfriend took us to Pensthorpe on Sunday. It's such a beautiful place, isn't it? Ducks are some of my favourite birds, and mergansers and smews are some of my favourite ducks, so I was very happy there - everybody else had to keep waiting for me to catch up!

Many thanks Sarah.

We love the place and there is so much going on there at pretty much any time of the year.

They are a European mainland bird in general Mick but an occasional visitor to our shores. Chew Valley lake had one resident for quite some time. I do like the alternative name as well...bird watchers call them Fudge Ducks!
