If I'd have taken my two there when they were young I would never have got to see the wildlife :lol2:

It'll change the demographic and maybe not for the better

We noticed that on the main visitor sign outside the entrance it has been renamed from Pensthorpe Nature Reserve to Pensthorpe Nature Park which says it all really and the word 'park' is in keeping with their new theme and detracts quite a bit from the natural beauty of the place. It would be a great shame if families visiting now spent most of their time of the play areas rather than introducing adults and children to the wonderful array of natural flora and fauna of Pensthorpe...something that they did market and pride themselves upon.

It makes you wonder if visitors are down and they have had to diversify to encourage more people to visit, nothing wrong in that but not to the detriment of advertising it as a park instead of a reserve.

We weren't going to bother visiting Pensthorpe again this year but we decided to have another look around last month and we did have an enjoyable visit, spring is a good season to be there.

A few photos ... The Mandarin ducks were being quite agressive with 2 males both interested in the same female

Nothing quite like any duck species we have Jan, possibly the most colourful duck species in the world.
