Thank you Di and Marg my new camera is a Canon Powershot sx30i I am still working out how half of it works though as it's got a lot more features and things to confuse me than my last one I'm liking the 35x zoom though

Julie, I love the sound of that 35x zoom, that would have been great when I was at Slimbridge, you never know I might have seen that Smew that everyone was so excited about. I've just been doing a lot of googling on it and it sounds a fantastic camera. Have you had a chance to use the macro yet, only the right ups don't seem to mention that at all. Must admit I'm very tempted as I love Cannon anyway, I'll have to start saving those pennies.

for your comments everyone ![]() Marg so far I've only used the macro a couple of times and I thought it was very good (it also automatically changes to macro when you are close up so that's handy too) But I've only used it on Fungi so far and I've found it can be a different story with insects/butterflies etc so once I get a chance to try it out on them I'll have more of an idea how good the macro is One thing though if you are going to look at getting one Marg is to make sure you get sd-hc memory card as the first day I used it I hadn't realised my old memory card (which was just an sd ) wasn't compatible and only found out when I got home there was no pictures on the card even though i'd been looking at them after taking them

Thanks for the info Julie I have to use those memory cards in the camera I've got now. What a shame and such a disappointment for you when you got home. Perhaps it let you see them, but didn't actually store them ![]() One other thing ...sorry to be a pest, but can you take the photos in RAW format. I ask that as I would like to have that option in time. I couldn't see that info when I was looking at that camera online. If I do change my camera it won't be for a few months, but it's great to get comeback from someone who already has the camera that you like the look of. So thanks Julie.

Marg I can't find any settings on the camera for shooting in RAW and I've just had a quick search on google and nothing seems to come up so I'm guessing that you cam't take photos in RAW format but I could be wrong ... if I can find out for sure I'll let you know

Ju what a difference. Absolutely fabulous photos. Well done, it doesn't matter how good the camera is...... it is the person pressing the button that make the difference between average and fabulous.
