I've only seen one once, but that was a very brief appearance.

One of our main reasons for visiting Sculthorpe moore nature reserve was to try and see the Kingfishers there. We got an extremely distant view of one there a couple of years ago and again kingfisher was written several times a day in the sighting book in the hide so we thought we were guaranteed to see one :grin: ....
Well on our first 2 visits we spent hours looking out over this pond

and we saw .. absolutely nothing .... not even a duck as my mum put it :giggle:

So we went back for a third time hoping it would be third time lucky .... and it was :yay: there was 3 perches it could have landed on 2 close to the hide and one on the far side of the pond ... you can guess which one it landed on : :(

But at least we got to see it and get a few half decent photos:
