Whilst visiting Holkham Nature reserve in Norfolk we witnessed an amazing sight of several thousand geese leaving their feeding ground to take flight ... To start off with here is a bit of footage (it's a little shaky in parts as it was filmed with my camera as we didn't think we'd need the camcorder or tripod that day! ) [utube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5Dwqs_WkWk&feature=youtu.be[/utube] and a few photos for looking

superb photos and wonderful footage Julie ![]() An unforgettable experience seeing geese in numbers like that and you just have to be there to witness the sights and sounds to truly take it all in. Here are a few spots around the country that are worth checking out for geese... Caerlaverock - Dumfries and Galloway,Scotland.....Amazing spectacle during winter with up to 27,000 Barnacle geese in the air and feeding on the salt marshes. Welney - Norfolk.....The place to go to witness thousands of wintering geese and swans. Holkham - Norfolk....Thousands of Pink-footed Geese on and around the marshes. Montrose Basin SWT - Scotland.....Upwards of 65,000 Pink-footed Geese can be seen here during late Autumn/Winter. |
