Thank you Andy

Loads of photos to sort out from our 2 weeks in Norfolk so I'll start off with my highlight
On a visit to Pensthorpe we had some lovely fairly close up views of both male & female Cuckoo.
Not the graetest of photos but a first for me :yay:

Brilliant! Incredibly difficult birds to see and photograph yet you managed to get photos of both male and female on the same visit. :wow:

Brilliant photos Julie :clap2:

You spent a long time getting close to those cuckoos following their calls and it really was worth it to get those photos :cool1:

:congrats: Julie, I am so impressed - you lucky girl and what a treat to capture them :wow2: :jealous: :clap5:

Please forgive my over-enthusiasm but I've never even seen a cuckoo in the wild before, let alone photograph one :amazing:

Very well done Julie...fantastic photos!

It was a great experience seeing them so close and that female getting to within 15ft of us was unforgettable!

Some more photos from Norfolk, this next set were all taken at Sculthorpe Moor nature reserve.

We stood for a while watching this treecreeper flying back and forth with nesting material to this tree where it was building it's nest.
Posted Image

This small slit in the bark of the tree is where the nest was being built, apparently this is the same place it nested last year.

The highlight from our visit to Sculthorpe this yeas has to be this Turtle Dove :yay: The first one I have ever seen in the wild :)

You had some lovely sightings Julie, especially the Turtle Dove. :jealous:

I loved the photo of the Little Egret coming into land.

That twig the Treecreeper has is almost as big as itself!!

:greatpics:

Beautiful photos Julie. Here in the Chilterns there are very few streams, let alone places for wading birds. The chalk means that the rain goes deep underground into aquafers. Occasionally springs start welling up again and streams start flowing then they mysteriously dry up again. We have the river Thames not far away, of course, but that isn't quite the same. there is also the river Wye which runs through the town but sadly was culverted for a lot of the way.

:clap4: I don't know where to begin , Julie ... i love all of them .. and amongst this selection my faves are the reed warbler photograph .. the tree creeper and the cuckoo . And of course the turtle dove which against all the odds has avoided the slaughter in Malta ....... unless it breeds here now which would be a sensible move . Maybe more will do that in the future :cool4:
