Brilliant photos Julie of a spectacular bird! you did really well to get anything at all considering how windy it was.

They are generally only found in the UK Eric when they have been blown over from continental Europe, classed as a scarce visitor, they often appear when there have been some easterly or south-easterly winds blowing our way.

 Grayling.

That's correct Julie, they don't breed here but do turn up as scarce visitors most years and sometimes in decent numbers.

Another nice sighting was this Great White Egret at Holkham, unfortunalty I had zoom to maximum as it was across the lake so the photos are not great, but still I was pleased to get record shots :)

More lovely photos Julie :cool2:

Lovely to see the Spoonbill - they seem to be coming a bit more regular in the UK - I love seeing them, they look so exotic.

That Herring Gull made me

Superb photos, Julie. I did see the Great White Egret at Holkham but I looked everywhere for a Spoonbill and didn't see one.

It was fishing in the water (about as far away from the hide as it could get) when I saw it and my photos aren't as good as yours.
