Wow, stunning photos Tim.The osprey, red kites and the puffins are fantastic.I have a boat trip booked for June to visit the Farne Isles, Staple Island & Inner Farne so hopefully we get good weather.I have never been before though did get close to puffins on Skomer last year.
May I ask what camera & lens set up you have Tim?

Thanks raptorwatcher. You will love the Farnes. You don't need a huge lens as you will get very close to most of the birds but a fast lens is good for capturing them in flight. I generally use my Canon EOS 1D Mk 3 with a 100-400mm IS L lens for wildlife. Not the fastest lens but I can't quite justify £6000 for a better one. If you have a decent 300mm lens it will do the job. I also have a 24-105 for wider angle and a 100mm IS L macro, which is awesome for close up work.

Enjoy your trip and get some great shots. Late June to early July is great for chicks too.

Thanks Tim.:) I have a canon 60d with 75-300mm lens though want to upgrade to the 100-400mm f5.6 lens.
I do have a 100mm macro too, mainly for dragonflies and moths:)when there are some.lol

No problem raptorwatcher. The 75-300 is a nice lens and will be fine for the Farne Islands I'm sure. If you do upgrade the 400mm prime is a good option if you don't need the versatility of the zoom.

This Nuthatch (Sitta europaea) was gathering wet mud to modify the entrance to it's prospective nest hole to the optimum size.
