Thanks everyone. I spent about 5 minutes carefully creeping as close as possible to the Kestrel terrified of frightening it away. I thought my field-craft and stealth was getting better but it was so unafraid it actually flew down to the ground next to me and was very obliging.

You don't get that very often.

loved the photos Tim ..... i didn't realise that kestrels were pink and blue :doh: .. i'd always assumed them to be brown when i see them hovering at a distance :cool: super shots and i love the nuthatch :cool2: and the green woodpecker :wow:

Thank you Jen. The female Kestrel is generally brown but the males are more ornate as you can see. Glad you like them.

Superb photos Tim :encore: You do get to see some great species..loved the Great Grey Shrike and the Red-flanked Bluetail :wow:

The close ups of the Kestrel are wonderful, it must've been very exciting to have it land close to you on the ground :cool:

EDIT. Forgot to mention the Raven...one of my favourites :yes:
