Black headed Gulls may be overlooked but their chocolate brown heads and red legs and bills make them a colourful gull in their breeding plumage.

Although their colonies can be very noisy!

Thank you Happyhare. You are welcome to use any pictures for other topics on this site but these weren't taken this year if that matters.

The spring challenge sounds interesting Happyhare. I will look at the rules and see what I can do to contribute. Thanks to everyone their comments. I am glad that what I do can bring some pleasure to others.

Short Eared Owl (Asio flammeus) seen this morning. Crop in from what seemed a mile away so just a record shot until I can get a bit closer..

Thank you feedyourhedgehog. Living close to Salisbury Plain we are blessed with a good population of Corn Bunting, often seen in large mixed flocks with Yellowhammer, Chaffinch, Satrling and the odd Reed Bunting. Many people say they don't see these too often so I count myself very lucky and, as you say, their song is a treat to hear.

A wonderful variety of birds Tim and fantastic photos, great sighting of the Short Eared Owl :cool3:

I think all the Owls are such lovely birds and make great photos for those lucky enough to get them.

Where to start!!

They are all brilliant shots in different ways Tim but for sheer colour i would have to plump for the White-fronted Bee Eaters. Fabulous photos :clap3:
