Welcome to the 2015 Moth Photography Challenge Before Posting your photo please check that it is not already on the Species List And that you have also posted it on the screening thread first ![]() The format is exactly the same as the previous years and the only criteria that we must ask for is for as clearer an image as possible to enable us to correctly id each species. Also, all images must have been taken between the 1st Jan 2015 and December 31st 2015. No images submitted outside of these dates can be considered towards the final total. Also on this occasion we only ask for one image of any one species so either male or female will suffice as we are not including both sexes towards the final total. We are also including the addition of leaf miners with visible signs of both vacated and tenanted mines acceptable. Flightless females and larvae are also accepted. It is also very important to take as many clear images as possible of other criteria such as underwings, upper hindwings and side shots, the latter most important where micro moths are concerned. These images may well be required when trying to ascertain a correct identification and without them id's may not be possible. It is infinitely better to have three of four clear images rather than a large number of poorer images. We know it is not always possible to gain clear images of things that don't stay still but we can provide a few useful pointers that will enable you to do so. Good luck everyone! |
