Going back to your point on a previous post James.

You could well be right about having a very dry Spring inducing an early autumnal look to our landscapes.I did notice that the water level at Wyver lane,my local reserve, was significantly down this year on almost every comparable month in 2010.This certainly appeared to have an effect on the flora around the reserve with fewer wild flowers in bloom during July and August and much of the other grassland, meadows and trees etc already showing signs of wither.

Not that we want to accept that autumn is just around the corner but it is a spectacular time of the year and i thought it was worth members sharing their photos of the first signs of autumn.

No photos but plenty of signs that Autumn is around the corner. The amount of Craneflies, Harvestmen spiders, Caddisflies etc has increased dramatically over the past week and many autumn moth favourites are being attracted to the moth trap, Centre-barred Sallow, Rosy Rustic, Lunar Underwing and Brown-spot Pinion to name a few.

One or two trees, mainly Sycamore, are starting to change colour and lots of berries appear to be showing, Pyracantha and Rose Hips especially.

thanks everyone :leaves2: I might pop over to RM tomorrow , there's sure to be some signs of Autumn there .
Leaves are falling but that could be due to a lack of rain . As soon as the temperature drops .. the leaves will drop as well :autumn2:

Lots of berries, of which quite a lot have been eaten by the birds already such as the elderberries that I had in the photograph for the challenge of a bird earing a berry. However not only do we have signs of autumn in our garden we also have signs of spring as yesterday I photographed a celandine in flower and we also have Auriculas and Polyanthus in flower.

Hope you manage to get to RM Jen.

Certainly a Celandine is more associated with spring, Hazel....nice find.
