:hi: I think it has been more a case of what autumn things we have not been seeing when we are in Norfolk at this time of year.

Very few fungi so far and not the huge numbers of geese there have usually been.

Except for the odd tree here and there the majority are still very green and in full leaf and no signs at all of the deer rut starting yet,in fact looking around it looks more like late August than the end of September.

We will see what the next couple of weeks bring :lovefungi: :leaves:

What we could do with Jan is some rain, not something that we would request that often whilst we are on holiday, but it would help to bring some fungi out.

Saw my first Whooper Swans of the season yesterday, definitely a sign of Autumn. They were in a loch just a couple of miles south of Aviemore.

Thanks Dave, I think that's the earliest in the season that I've seen them, although I've only really been birding since 2006. More signs of autumn, the temperature dropped to minus 0.8c at 8.00am this morning! Really foggy to start, but turned into a gorgeous sunny day.

We had some rain and hail stones here yesterday. Don't think it has helped. Apart from the brown leaves on trees and the appearance of berries, there isn't much to report here.

Just remembered, I did see some fungi in the woods, whilst walking Rosie this afternoon.

I think the last two are the same type. It was a shame they were past their best.

thank you all ...... i always associate chrysanths with Autumn and i like the musty smell . I think probably the rusty shades are my faves .. these i bought as little seedlings from Sarah Raven and because they were next to the purple sprouting broccoli the plants are taller than they need to be . I must get some cuttings :cool3:

:cool1: Tabs some good fungi there .I bet there are others lurking :)

Spindle berries are starting to appear now, one of my favourite fruits to see.

One of my favourites too Dave. I was wondering though if anything eats them?
