I've just got back from an amazing holiday and I think the number of different wildlife sightings in one trip has to be a record for me. Here are some of the birds I saw;

Thank you all.

It was the first time I'd been over to Iona to look for Corncrakes. Luckily I met up with my friend Rob on Mull. His son had been to Iona and given him some tips on where to look but getting a reasonable photo definitely wasn't easy.

A very belated thank you, Grayling.

It's been quite a while since I added anything to this thread. Much as I'd hoped I'd find another Osprey locally, the best I can do at the moment is this Black Swan that has appeared on a local lake. I was a bit nervous of approaching it initially :lol: as the last Black Swan I encountered (while trying to photograph Deer at Woburn) was rather aggressive and kept attacking me. This one however was much more placid.

The first part i noticed Ann , was the end of the black swans tail :thinking: i don't think i've seen those shapes .. all very shiny . It's beautiful .

I remember the first time i fed white swans , it was at Slimbridge . At first the beaks felt uncomfortable .. the little serrations inside . But it wasn't painful and i suppose the swans there are used to the public and don't become angry

Thank you everyone.

Jen, I think it's the males who get rather boisterous at certain times of the year. One of my pet ducks used to be the same and he could inflict some painful bruises when he pecked my legs. I think in the case of the swans, it's their strong wings you have to be a bit careful of.
