Thought I'd make a start on my own bird thread, these will mostly be pictures of birds that visit my garden. Most of them will have been taken from the kitchen window.

Yesterday I had a lovely surprise when I spotted a Jay, the first time I've seen one in the garden.

I'd sprinkled some suet pellets towards the hedge for the little birds and I think that must be what had attracted him. It's not been back though.

Jackdaws have become regular visitors over the last year. They are magnificent birds but I don't think I'd like to get too close to one :}

We have lots of House Sparrows, I love to hear their noisy chatter

We had a visit from a Feral Pigeon the other week - not seen it since though

Long Tailed Tit and juvenile Goldfinch

We have got quite a few blackbirds in the garden at the moment - the cotoneaster berries were popular while they lasted

Great start to your bird thread Grayling :woo!:

Jackdaws do look a bit evil with those light-coloured eyes. There is a pair nest every year in a neighbours chimney pot, I love to watch their antics.

Jan, the bathing ones were earlier this Autumn but they do still like a good splash even though it is so cold :cold2:

Thank you Andy :thankyou: I think I might get some peanuts if I can find them in not so large amounts; when I've bought them before the birds turned up their beaks to them and they went mouldy so I stopped buying them. It would be nice to see the Jay again

Here are a few of my garden visitors yesterday.

I was very pleased to see a little wren throughout the day

I like watching the starlings - we don't get as many as we used to though :(

Our Robin

Posted Image

They look quite fierce when they look at you like this :giggle:

Posted Image

Here's my rogue Blackbird - he sits up on the corner of the roof or the top corner of the hedge and then flys down to scare away other blackbirds particularly. - I thought it a bit too early to be getting territorial

Long Tailed Tit - there were a few others but they didn't hang around.

Posted Image

Another Wren (or more of the same one later in the day)

Posted Image

Posted Image

A Goldfinch - I bought this feeder about a month ago to replace a really manky one that was difficult to clean - this is the first bird I've seen on it.
