A belated thank you Julie :thankyou:

A few garden birds from the last couple of days.

I've started to put live mealworms out for the nesting birds, there is a pair of blackbirds and a pair of robins nesting in the hedge.

The Robin gets my attention by coming to the window and staring at me :lol2: It then waits patiently while I put the worms in the pot.

We had a pair of Siskins in the garden briefly yesterday - rubbish photo but they didn't hang around for long. They've visited again this morning so I'm hoping they will become regulars.

This Blue Tit sat on the feeder for age with the suet pellet.

And finally this Greater Spotted Woodpecker put in an appearance this morning, not seen one for a while now.

I seemed to have missed so many photos Grayling...................Lovely to see the Reed Buntings and I love the Blackbird and Robin captures, you'll have friends for life if you're feeding them live meal worms ..look forward to the fledglings they'll bring in later

Great photos Grayling & educational too, we wouldn't have known Reed Buntings but will recognize them now. The Blue Tit looks as if the fat pellet is stuck on it's beak, did you see it get rid of it?

Did you use your bridge camera for the garden shots & is it the SX 60? Jean & Graham

Thank you Paula, Dave and Jean :thankyou:

Jean, I do hope the suet pellet wasn't stuck but it did fly off with it

The Blue Tit, dodgy Siskins and Woodpecker were through the window with the Powershot SX50. The Robin and Blackbird were with the Canon 60D, they let me get quite close without flying off.

Fingers crossed for fledglings Paula :fingers:

Don't worry Grayling, Blue Tits are very able to clean their beaks off on a branch - if you've stood & watched them they do a very thorough job on a rough surface.

I'm toying with the idea of splashing out on a bridge camera with zoom. I mostly use my little slip-in-pocket Ixus 990 IS but the zoom on it isn't very good so I have to get close & bend down a lot. That's pretty hard on my dodgy back so thanks for the info. Graham had the Canon 50D which was a very good camera, I imagine the 60D is even better from your great results. Jean

Jean, if you are thinking of buying a new camera, you might like to have a look at Marg's (Dove-tail Marg) recent threads, she has a new bridge camera and has had some wonderful results :cool3: I think from memory it is a Panasonic but I can't recall the model :cool3:
